Position Summary

The Senior Manager of International Communications will oversee and drive Royal Caribbean Group’s global communication strategies for Europe and Asia. This role involves crafting long- and short-term communication plans aligned with the company’s Strategic Communications Plan. The ideal candidate will possess geopolitical expertise and a comprehensive understanding of in-market complexities, working closely with in-country brand leaders and corporate headquarters to serve as a day-to-day communications advisor in Europe and Asia.

 

Reporting to the AVP of Corporate Communications, the Senior Manager will join a highly collaborative team, acting as a strategic, relationship-driven communicator with strong emotional intelligence, creativity, and the ability to work under tight deadlines. The role requires building and managing relationships with media and stakeholders, developing crisis communication plans, and supporting global reputation management.


 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the global communications team and international agencies to develop multifaceted, resonant communication strategies across Europe and Asia.
  • Ensure messaging and storylines via PR and owned channels meet the needs of international markets, adjusting in real-time based on events.
  • Serve as a senior regional spokesperson, communicating strategies, policies, and initiatives to external audiences and media.
  • Lead crisis communications efforts in-market, creating reactive plans to protect brand reputation.
  • Develop and deploy regional communications playbooks for key markets, especially those with ongoing or upcoming projects.
  • Collaborate with teams to maintain the company’s right to operate in international markets and bolster global corporate reputation.
  • Map strategies to business objectives, measure outcomes, and report on relevant metrics.
  • Build and maintain relationships with international media, particularly in the UK and Western Europe, to facilitate impactful media engagement.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for high-impact media stories and thought leadership.
  • Proactively manage reputational risks and minimize negative coverage.
  • Develop global messaging for sensitive international issues.
  • Represent the department and lead cross-disciplinary teams on critical projects and incident management.
  • Play a leadership role in team development, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Ensure international communication objectives align with Royal Caribbean Group’s strategic vision and industry standards.
  • Support spokespeople with media training and speaking opportunities.
  • Coordinate with brand, marketing, product, and sponsorship teams to ensure cohesive communication efforts.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, Communications, or related field (preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in strategic media relations, public relations, or international communications.
  • Experience working with Corporate or Public Affairs teams is highly desirable.
  • Proven success managing communication teams or projects across multiple international markets.
  • Experience with “always-on” newsroom operations and crisis communications.

 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Exceptional executive presence and ability to build effective relationships within a complex, global organization, including with senior leadership and media.
  • Strong planning and prioritization skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, with a track record of executing incident and risk management initiatives in fast-paced environments.
  • Collaborative and trusted partner capable of fostering internal relationships across departments and regions.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate risks and opportunities, while managing nuanced issues.
  • Skilled in drafting and editing media materials, including press statements, backgrounders, talking points, Q&As, press releases, and fact sheets.
  • Proactive, independent, with strong follow-through and responsiveness outside standard working hours.
