POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is part of the overall team management and directly associated with power plant maintenance and equipment. Organize orders and Labor for the Main Engine overhauls and create budgets for engine work activities with Ship Managers. Provide technical support to the assigned ships as assigned by the Manager, Power Plant Services. Improve engine performance and reduce systematically the operation and maintenance costs. Work with Manufacturer and GMTS group on engine shortfalls. Serve as a deputy for Manager, Power Plant Services as assigned (by the Manager, Power Plant Services).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage and oversee Operation & Maintenance of Dual-Fuel diesel engines and associated LNG auxiliary systems and mechanisms.
- Manage and oversee technical budgets for the Engine work and review ship budgets, in coordination with the associated Ship Manager.
- Oversee quality of products and services provided by the designated power plant vendors. Identify and record any problems as well as provide solutions relating to the product, process and quality systems in this area as well control further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming products until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
- Manage and oversee engine maintenance riding teams.
- Oversee the coordination of all major engine projects and activities onboard the vessels.
- Manage improvement projects in Power Plant and consolidate best practices for maintenance processes.
- Motivate shore side and ship personnel to encourage teamwork and improvement.
- Oversee support for onboard repair and maintenance. Maintain direct communication with the vessels, including frequent visits to assist in the operation of Power Plant machinery and equipment to ensure optimal and efficient operations of all equipment.
- Ensure, in cooperation with associated Ship Managers, that technically related incidents and damages are properly investigated and reported.
- Manage and oversee engine planning related to engine guarantee items.
- Maintain current knowledge of up-to-date technical research and relevant projects, evaluate new technology for use onboard, and oversee the running of test programs on such equipment together with ships personnel.
- Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities or problems relating to product, process, and quality systems as well as provide solution through designated channels and verify implementation in the Power Plant area.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY:
- Responsible for creation and maintaining ships engine overhaul and routine repairs budget for assigned ships.
QUALIFICATIONS:

- Specific Knowledge: Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. 10+ years cruise ship experience and 10+ years diesel engine combined with LNG dual-fuel diesel engine installation commissioning experience required (including marine and power plant).
- Ability to manage the financial aspects of the assigned function, including the successful identification of expense reduction through cost efficiencies.
- Person must excel in ability to manage a staff in a positive and productive manner by motivating, developing and managing employees as they work.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Working knowledge of personal computers, internet access and the ability to navigate within a variety of Microsoft software packages including and not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and related printers and equipment.
- Person must have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
- The ability to work in a fast paced environment with multiple projects and priorities is needed.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- The ability to read and comprehend instructions in English required.
- Understand correspondence and memos to communicate effectively with various departments within the organization, both shipboard and shore side.
- Excellent interpersonal skills needed.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- The ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, discounts, interest and commissions and to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance, as well as foreign exchange rates.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems that arise with standardized solutions. Consult superiors when needed and SQM.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The environment includes work inside/outside the office. When onboard ship a higher noise level and higher ambient temperatures will be encountered and appropriate clothing and ear protection shall be dawned.
