POSITION OVERVIEW

The Associate Vice President (AVP), Marine Technical Procurement is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the global procurement of marine technical equipment, parts, and services. This strategic position involves leading a diverse team of procurement professionals, collaborating closely with our Global Marine Operations (GMO), New-building and Finance functions. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep knowledge of the maritime industry, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to lead a team of procurement professionals. This key leadership role acts as a thought leader for the function and critical advisor who collaborates with senior leadership to influence and shape the suppliers of choice, cost and service profile for over 600k+ SKUs / unique items totally ~700m+ of procured annual spend across OPEX and CAPEX. This position is instrumental in leading and influencing the financial modeling & capital planning efforts within Marine, enabling and prioritizing projects that deliver the highest returns for the Group. The role will demonstrate business acumen and aptitude in partnering with cross functional teams, analyzing large data sets, and crafting business compelling narratives that influence decision making large projects. This leadership role is skilled with communicating across business units (at all levels), collaborating with and influencing senior, executive, and C-suite leadership, presenting work to large and diverse audiences, while promoting an insight driven organization with a heavy emphasis on value creation and service delivering across the thousands of GMO suppliers utilized to operate the company. The AVP role will drive procurement strategies that support operational excellence, safety, and compliance across the organization’s fleet worldwide. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Leadership & Strategic Planning o Lead and develop a high-performing global Marine Technical Procurement team.

o Formulate and execute procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.

o Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize procurement processes, reduce costs, and enhance service levels. 

• Stakeholder Collaboration

o Work closely with GMO, New-building and Refurbishment to understand technical requirements and operational priorities.

o Act as a key point of contact for technical procurement needs, ensuring timely and efficient sourcing of marine equipment and spare parts. 

• Procurement & Supplier Management

 o Oversee the end-to-end procurement process for marine technical assets and services, including sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and supplier performance management.

o Build and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers and vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and best in class pricing. 

• Compliance & Risk Management

 o Ensure procurement activities comply with international maritime regulations, safety standards, and company policies.

o Promote the adoption of digital tools and data analytics to enhance procurement decision-making.

KNOWLEDGE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.

• Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in marine technical procurement, supply chain management, New-buildings or related roles, with demonstrated leadership of global teams.

• Strong understanding of marine industry standards, regulations, and technical specifications.

• Proven track record in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and cost optimization.

• Excellent stakeholder engagement, strong negotiation-, and communicationskills.

• Ability to lead cross-cultural and remote teams effectively.

• Proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
