Handler, Warehouse Ops

Position Summary

This position is responsible for loading, unloading, receiving/storing, shipping materials and inventory control of products from the pier or warehouse. 

 

Summary of Duties & Responsibilities

  • Verifies vendor paperwork against actual deliveries.
  • Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
  • Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
  • Assembles ships orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
  • Processes receiving and/or shipping transactions handheld barcode scanner.
  • Loads and unloads containers at the logistics center in accordance with procedures established by management
  • Drives vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to plant or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
  • May perform pre-checking procedures at vendor locations prior to vessel loading. 

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to lift light to medium weight package
  • Ability to verbally communicate tactfully with department heads, managers, coworkers, shipboard employees, longshoremen and vendors to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions.
  • Ability to operate fork lift and/or pallet jacks.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. 
  • This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, co-workers, shipboard employees, vendors, etc.
