Analyst, Senior Shipboard Inventory

POSITION SUMMARY:  The position is responsible for developing and maintaining policies and procedures regarding the shipboard Inventory team.  The position acts as a liaison with the functional areas in supply chain as well as hotel operations to ensure the processes exist for a continuous flow of product and financial reporting. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develops implements and maintains inventory control policy and procedures to ensure efficient movement of goods throughout the entire supply chain process with specific focus to the shipboard operational aspects.

2. Travels to the ships to assess compliance with and provide constant training of policies and procedures.

3. Conducts performance evaluations and creates action and development plans for personnel.

4. Responsible for identifying best practices within each ship and building on the individual initiatives so that they may be introduced as fleet wide initiatives and across brands.

5. Tracks and prepares key performance metrics and benchmark items relating to inventory planning and forecasting.  Tracks and analyzes forecast and planning accuracy and performance with relation to actual figures.  Assists with the annual budgeting by providing historical data, analysis, and gathering/ presenting shipboard insight into areas of potential concern or issue for the coming fiscal/ financial periods.

6. Publishes performance metrics report relating to inventory accuracy, turnover, space utilization, order efficiency, and obsolescence on a regular basis. Delivers results to shipboard Hotel Director and shoreside Material Control Manager, and Hotel Operations Management. 

7. Evaluates findings and makes recommendations as to inventory levels.

8. Serves as liaison between the ship and Supply Chain relating to shipboard inventory management including the reduction of obsolete or slow moving items.

9. Serves as the primary contact for the implementation, execution and training of new systems, tools, and procedures.

10. Establishes a demand planning process that drives the ordering of materials for all hotel related functions.

11. Works with the onboard Inventory Manager and shoreside human resource representatives to ensure succession planning as well as screen new hire candidates.

12. Serve as the inventory liaison for all fleet operations areas.  Provide feedback regarding the timing for project/ initiative deployment onboard each vessel.  Work with the fleet operations team to assess the product needs associated with the project/ initiative to ensure timely ordering and receipt of the required goods is realized.

13. Serve as a support/ liaison to the shipboard team when identifying facility related requests/ needs.  Assist in the coordination of refurbishment needs during major ship overalls, dry dock, re-vitalizations, etc.

14. Support the Inventory scheduler by working to best identify and utilize the strengths of the Inventory Manager and Inventory team members throughout the fleet.

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for shipboard inventory (Crunchtime - JDE) reconciliation valued at $ 65mn. 

 

PROJECTS

There may be Projects that require extended travel for longer periods of time. This includes conducting implementations and training while onboard.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in accounting, finance, hospitality management, business administration, or related field or the international equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in supply chain management.
  • 4-7 years experience in statistics, business modeling, or forecasting.
  • Position has travel averaging 5 to 10 percent of the time.   

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS: 

  • Financial analysis experience specializing in planning and forecasting for the hospitality or maritime industry preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel to produce analysis and graphs, Microsoft PowerPoint to produce presentations 
  • Familiarity with the development, use and implementation of planning and forecasting systems.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully, verbally and in writing, with department heads, managers, coworkers, shipboard employees and/or vendors to resolve problems and negotiate resolutions.  
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures.  This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from, management, co-workers, shipboard employees, etc. Working knowledge of computers, internet access, and the ability to navigate within an automated purchasing system.
