We are seeking a Superintendent, Architectural Outfitting to join our Newbuild team and play a pivotal role in delivering some of the world's most innovative and visually stunning cruise ships. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside leading architects, designers, shipyards, and technical experts to ensure that every guest-facing space exceeds expectations for quality, functionality, sustainability, and brand experience.
As a key member of the site office team, you will oversee the successful execution of architectural outfitting across public spaces, guest accommodations, exterior guest areas, and open decks throughout the shipbuilding lifecycle, from detailed design and mock-up reviews through construction, commissioning, delivery, and operational handover.

POSITION SUMMARY:                

The Superintendent, Architectural Outfitting (Front of House) provides expertise to a newbuilding site office, participating to all aspects of the detailed design phases, design coordination, and building phases of the projects assigned to one site office within a sustainability mindset and outfitting optimization. He also serves as a steady conduit of information and intelligence to the primary site office team and key designers.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.    Tracks and upholds the overall outfitting processes on site for all assigned areas, ensuring the completion of the outfitting on expected quality and time manner of the brand specific vessel interior, exterior and back-of-house designs, in accordance with both design intent concepts given and shipyard contracts and applicable regulations internal or external ( SOLAS, ADA, USPH, Clean Design ).
2.    Responsible for outfitting of guest interior areas, open decks, guest stateroom accommodations, appearance of exterior and ship’s profile, interface and integration of the technical elements, etc. for all projects within the site office.  Not responsible for technical areas such as machinery, casings, HVAC rooms, etc.
3.    Responsible of conducting regular walkthroughs and reports to Department Responsible SO on regular basis critical input related to Design, Outfitting, Integration of Technical items, interfaces between areas or TKs, Manning, Material status, including production and delivery, Outfitting optimization, within a Sustainability Mindset
4.    Controls and coordinates eventual modifications within these areas with designers and architects.  
5.    Tracks and upholds the screening and follow up of guarantee claims, maintenance issues and lessons learned coming from previous newbuilds and/or Operation assuring continuous improvement approach
6.    Supports SO Department Responsible on the coordination and planning of various architect, designer, lighting design, catering equipment, artwork, signage coordination meetings, visits, and inspections, in tight synchronization with delivering to shipyard milestones. 
7.    Cooperates in defining technical installations standards in public spaces, open decks and any other area of responsibility. 
8.    Responsible of conducting design intent drawing reviews, detail drawing reviews, factory visits, mockup reviews and inspections
9.    Leads mock-up reviews and first of production inspection of public spaces, guest staterooms,corridors, etc for assigned responsibilities, focus on outfitting quality and supporting design issues to the Team
10.    Tracks and reports on regular basis on detailed design & design building/production progress, focusing on time schedules, critical path milestones, costs, completion of inspections, quantity/closure of remarks, and while keeping strong focus on quality, outfitting optimization and sustainability, in accordance with contract and/or in accordance with subsequent approved modifications, communicating the same in a simple and clear manner.  Reports to Manager, Outfitting, or Project Director, and Newbuild Architectural Design Department Head on regular basis. 
11.    Leads an efficient supervision process ensuring that design goals, design quality and design standards/guidelines are met, projects are on budget, ship readiness is on time.  Spends solid and routine time walking onboard the vessels as they are under construction, up to and beyond delivery until such time they are successfully in service.  
12.    Supports the Manager, Outfitting, or Project Director, and Newbuild Architectural Design Department Head in preparing good materials for a high-quality Chief Design Review process, in collaboration with the shipyard, bringing key design status and issues to the forefront, along with recommendations,  risk detection and mitigation. 
13.    Maintains good relations with shipyard leadership and management and RCG Teams in related areas, along with shipyard’s area coordinators and turn-key contractors.
14.    May be called for supporting other projects on different Site Offices by supporting RCG Company needs and goals. 
15.    Provides professional development of staff through experience sharing, mentoring, and feedback.
16.    Effectively communicates the department’s values and culture through words and actions.    
17.    Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on the scope of the project.


QUALIFICATIONS:
1.    5-8 years of experience with the cruise ship industry, combined with onsite construction, with familiarity of strong shipbuilding processes, site surveys and marine standards.  
2.    Proven experience in handling large scale projects
3.    Proven knowledge of SOLAS and IMO, ILO and USPHS.
4.    Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Architectural and/or naval architecture degree preferred.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
1.    Strong skills to read detailed design and technical drawings
2.    Strong knowledge of materials and technologies
3.    Excellent written & verbal English is a must.  German, French, and/or Finnish language is an advantage.
4.    Strong interpersonal skills with strong ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management and employees, across diverse cultures around the world. 
5.    Requires a high level of written and verbal communication skills to convey concepts and requirements of the team to technical and non-technical individuals. Is effective at simplifying complexity.
6.    Requires strong teamwork, cooperation, and collaborative skills to develop report within the department, with other departments, and externally. 
7.    Possesses self-motivation with ability to mobilize people and resources to action, within a high-paced environment
8.    Good ability to proactively identify problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
9.    Possesses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
10.    Ability to work under tight schedules and to endure challenging situations in high stress situations.
11.    Working knowledge of computer software for communication and presentations.  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Good physical condition, able to endure extensive walking and stairclimbing within a heavy and loud shipbuilding construction environment.
