POSITION SUMMARY:

Ensures that all technical systems and areas of the Company’s new builds conform to design criteria and operational requirements during ship’s entire lifecycle. Provides substantial input and leadership to specific technical and new building projects, manages the technical assurance for technology development work with technical consultancies, classification societies and other authorities in the industry strongly collaborating with shipyards Site office teams, RCL operations and other in-house sources.

Participates in the development of marine engineering related technologies with strong focus on the areas such as energy efficiency, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and related R & D work.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Manages the adherence and development of the TAP processes with the new build site offices. Establishes and maintains regular collaboration with the team members in Europe, and further with the fleet and operation in all marine engineering technology related items as needed.
•    Organizes and/or participates in the reviews for technology development work with current and potential new shipyards, makers and systems designers and marine operations.
•    Ensures effective information sharing between the Technical Managers working for Site office projects.
•    Manages the team organizing and participating various FMECA, HAZIP/HAZOP or similar risk assessment studies and machinery feasibility studies with Site office teams.
•    Manage, participate and organize facilitation of various risk assessment and feasibility studies as required.
•    Participates in development of guidelines for best practices for various equipment and technical design solutions for company’s project portfolio based on the RCAs and lessons learned from the earlier projects.
•    Ensures that all innovations and lessons learned from existing fleet are be implemented on future new build projects.
•    Ensure that the agreed processes for CERs, Peer reviews and TAP are made available at all site offices.
•    Ensure that the CER meetings are scheduled in time and there is adequate pre-reviews with the management for internal alignment prior to the meeting.
•    Applies relevant rules and regulations in the development of cruise ship design and building, including evaluation and implementation of new technology.
•    Manages the team distributing the reporting of reviews, NTQ, etc. related to all technical systems and essential components.
•    Supports and manages support for the works alongside the inspection team participating in necessary factory acceptance test (FAT) as well as testing processes for quay and sea trial procedures during the building process by providing resources and guidance.
•    Participates in reviews related to new build approval processes such as makers and design approvals.

 

KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

•    Extensive experience (> 10-15 years) in marine engineering technologies, especially from the own field of expertise.
•    Good ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
•    Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
•    Capable of analyzing needs and product requirements to ensure that new technology is fit for purpose.
•    Capable of handling large systems and development projects simultaneously.
•    Ensure good and strong co-operation with suppliers, development partners, team, and other colleagues.
•    Ability to work under tight schedules.
•    Able to work in multicultural working environment and willingness to travel.


QUALIFICATIONS:

•    Applicable education for the field of expertise
•    Extensive experience in new building marine engineering technologies.
•    Knowledge of ship systems and technologies behind the systems.
•    Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
•    In-depth knowledge of SOLAS, IMO and other relevant regulations.
•    Excellent written & verbal English, other languages as an advantage.
•    High level communications skills. Ability proactively to create and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, development partners and with remote based team and colleagues.
•    Independent and self-oriented skills to lead simultaneous projects.
•    Strong team and network leadership skills.
•    Relevant computer skills.
