The Role

Technical Manager is responsible of all technical matters and will overview and ensure that the ship will be ready at the delivery according to the contract specification. This role will be based either in Turku Finland or The Netherlands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

· Participate in new ship specification/ concept development and contract process

· Oversight of technical aspects of new ship construction and design.

· Oversee the technical design, approvals, Quay / Sea Trial tests supervision including inspection reports and follow-up of given remarks and Field Comments with Superintendents

· Technical responsibility for the ships to be delivered on time and on cost to the standards and quality in accordance with the contract specification.

· Ensure vessel is in compliance with all relevant regulations from various authorities.

· Overview technical USPH and environmental compliance

· Overview and participate F.A.T. process

· Coordinate modifications in technical areas

· Responsible of all project relevant energy and environmental projects

· Responsible for assigned improvement/enhancement projects

· Manage and coordinate technical meetings with Operations

· Point of contact for technical coordination between yard and other relevant partners

· Maintaining good working relations with yard’s responsible persons.

· Develop the tools for reliable progress follow up with the yards.

· Reports of various project topics to relevant organisations

· Risk assessment and management

· Familiarization of new technical team members with Superintendents

· Other work-related duties as required

 

Financial Responsibilities:

There are no direct financial responsibilities, but the responsibility of project cost structure and budget, and to assure that quality requirements and schedules are met.

 

Qualifications:

Naval architecture/ Marine engineering background with +5 years work experience, alternatively Experience from vessel operations/ Chief Eng. with unlimited licence. Experience in newbuilding design process, site surveys, and system testing either from the owner or shipyard side.

 

Key Skills & Experience Required:

Fluency in English. Computer literate. Deep knowledge of SOLAS, IMO, MARPOL and other relevant regulation.

Proven ability to manage and drive projects independently is highly valued.
