Architect, Naval
Position Summary:
Naval Architect participates to daily ship project naval architectural routines for specified Vessel Classes during their design and building phases. Participation to concept design process for upcoming new build projects belongs also to main focus areas. Naval Architect will work closely with the Project Management team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Naval Architecture – Design and Building phases
- Participates to the ship project design and building process on the field of naval architecture
- Participates to definition, follow up and approval process of ships, hydrodynamics, passenger comfort and safety during the design and building phases
- Hydrostatics, stability and weight
- Works as contact persons to consultants related to hydrostatics, stability and weight
- Participates Vessel Class project building
- Responsible of the tests and trials in the field of naval architecture and passenger comfort
- Participates to ships Naval Architectural and regulatory work with classification society, Flag administration, USCG, etc.
- Participates to new projects at the early stage (concept design) for various naval architectural tasks
 
-  Technology development
- Participate design criteria selection and development for new projects
- Participate in the risk management process for new technologies
- Feasibility studies for different field of technologies as needed
 
Key skills & experience required:
- · Proficiency in MS Office tools
- · Capability to use the design programs like Autocad etc.
- · Good skills to analyse and develop specifications. Drawings, layouts and other technical documentation.
- · Understanding of shipbuilding project processes.
- · Basic knowledge of SOLAS, IMO, classification rules and marine standards.
- · Fluency in English, other languages as advantage.
- · Excellent teamwork skills.
- · Good skills for communication and co-operation in multicultural working environment.
- Willingness to travel occasionally
Qualifications:
B. Sc. or M. Sc. Naval Architect or equal with minimum 3-5 years of experience in the field of naval architecture from ship newbuild sector. Experience from passenger vessel naval architecture preferred.
