Position Summary:

Technical Manager is responsible of all technical related topics and will overview and ensure that the ship will be ready at the delivery according to the contract specification, in time, quality and within budget. He/She is responsible for the technical team performance and management. He/She supports project management team on technical related matters. He/She is integral part of the people management organization of the site office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Work in seamless cooperation with Project Manager/Director in order to flawlessly deliver the projects assigned to him/her.
  • Leads technical team, coordinating assignments, workload and ensuring team performance and wellbeing
  • He/she creates the best work environment for his team, the Brand and the yard and Class societies and contractors’ colleagues to ensure efficiency and quality results.
  • Participate new ship specification, naval architectural definition
  • He/she creates a strong situational assessment on the technical situation of the project, data driven and factual, and steers the situation when needed to recover delays, quality gaps, and any other shortcoming
  • He/she makes sure that the team is duly staffed and coordinated start up team members support
  • Oversight of technical aspects of new ship construction, safety and design.
  • Oversee the technical design, approvals, commissioning, including Quay / Sea Trial tests supervision including inspection reports and follow-up of given remarks and Field Comments with Superintendents 
  • Overview and coordinates participation to F.A.T. process
  • Overview Technical USPH and Environmental Compliance
  • Manage and coordinate technical  meetings with Operations
  • Technical responsibility for the ships to be delivered on time and on cost to the standards and quality in accordance with the contract specification.
  • Ensure vessel is in compliance with all relevant regulations from various authorities.
  • Risk assessment and management for his/her area of responsibility
  • Familiarization of new technical team members with Superintendents
  • Coordinate modification within technical areas
  • Responsible of all project execution relevant energy savings and environmental projects
  • He/She will provide post-delivery support and implementation of technical lessons learned
  • Other work related duties as required

 

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibility of technical and consultants costs within Project structure and budget.

Qualifications:

Naval architecture and/or knowledge from shipbuilding, new building site surveys, design,testings, especially from the owner field of expertise.

Key skills & experience required:

Fluency in English.

Computer literate.

Deep knowledge of SOLAS, IMO, MARPOL and other relevant regulation.

Team player, great communication skills

Able to resolve complex issues

Solution oriented

Willingness to intense travel
