Mgr, Technology Development

Position Summary 

Responsible for the Group’s decarbonisation Technology Development Process and Implementation. As a key member of a cross-functional Decarbonisation team, this person will use interpersonal and analytical skills to initiate and support the decarbonisation technology development initiatives across the Group. The ideal candidate possesses strong organisational and interpersonal skills to drive initiative progress, and has a strong background in engineering, project management and consulting. 

This role is based in Weybridge, UK.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement the Decarbonisation technology development strategy, aligning with the Group’s emission reduction, technology and future fuel strategies. 
  • Drive collaboration within the industry and be a catalyst for technology development and technology scaling.  
  • Be responsible for creating and driving the Group’s Technology Funnel and develop recommendations for department and executive leadership. 
  • Conduct feasibility studies and research projects to advance, de-risk and validate candidate technologies.  
  • Partnership project manager for strategic partnerships with shipyards, technology providers, research institutions, and other external partners. 
  • Draws conclusions and make recommendations from independent research, operational data, external knowledge partners and research publications.  
  • Prepare decarbonisation and sustainability initiative input to department and corporate annual operating and strategic plans. 
  • Work alongside other departments in the organisation to drive the implementation of the Group’s decarbonisation strategy. 
  • Prepare comprehensive reports, presentations, and briefing materials for executive leadership and board meetings. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture 
  • Masters or PhD degree in related or complementary subject preferred 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering, project management, or sustainability in the maritime industry. 
  • Deep knowledge of technology development, risk management and quality assurance processes.  

 

Knowledge and Skills: 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with all levels of employees and management in a multi-cultural environment, with business acumen and support for business decision-making. 
  • Strong organisational skills with proven ability to lead teams and significant cross-functional and cross-departmental initiatives. 
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills; able to provide quality work with minimal direction and to comprehend and interpret complex data sets and information sources. 
  • Superior writing and presentation skills; able to provide quality work with minimal direction and deliver executive-level reports and presentations. 
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical and strategic information in a manner that is accessible to non-technical stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and effective communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office 365, (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.). 

 

Physical Demands: 

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with little to no guidance.  

 

Work Environment: 

Occasional travel may be required.
