Position Summary / Job Purpose:

In coordination with the operations team, the Recruiter focuses on effectively executing the interviewing/hiring process for shipboard positions (bulk & specialty/ management) & corporate roles (APAC). By collaborating with operational colleagues and effectively using resources to attract, identify, screen, and hire the best talent globally in the most efficient manner, the Recruiter maximizes his/her skills to benefit the organization through cost avoidance and productive contributions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Establishes recruiting requirements by studying organization plans and objectives; meeting with managers to discuss needs for Shipboard & Corporate roles

Determines applicant requirements by studying job description and job qualifications

Establishes, develops and maintains relationships with a network of recruiting agencies, executive recruiters, and related sources that efficiently recruit management or professional employees in accordance with company policy and procedure

Travels to various international or domestic locations as needed

Previews, evaluates and selects appropriate talent directly and through various sources to meet the requirements of the departments and/or vessels' needs

Selects appropriate applicants to meet specific functional hiring and scheduling requirements

Interviews candidates to determine the individual's adaptability to the corporate/shipboard environment; this is done via webcam, when possible, to minimize costs

Conducts regular review of interview questionnaires and revises it as appropriate to suit market/s handled

Ensures job description is shared to each candidate

Negotiates terms and conditions regarding contract lengths salary, etc.

Makes job offers to approved candidates in accordance with company policy

Ensures all documentation is prepared and approved such as passports, visas, medical clearances, airline tickets, transfers, hotel reservations, etc.

Conducts character reference checks as appropriate

Liaises with various HRSS representatives when appropriate, to ensure all hiring arrangements are correct

Prepares various reports as required including, but not limited to, status reports, talent search reviews, and list of talent pools & gap pools for shipboard and talent pools for corporate

Arranges management/ specialty interviews for shipboard by coordinating schedules; arranges travel, lodging, and meals; escorting applicant to interviews; arranging community tours (if applicable)

Manages various stake-holders in discussing job requirements and applicant qualifications with managers; based on a consistent set of qualifications as agreed at the start of the hiring process

Improves organization attractiveness by recommending new policies and practices; monitoring job offers and compensation practices; emphasizing benefits and perks

Avoids legal challenges in various markets handled by understanding current legislation; enforcing regulations with managers; recommending new procedures; conducting training

 

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

At least 7 years relevant recruitment experience; experience recruiting for Shared Services, Business Process Offshoring and/ or Hospitality Industry required.  Experience in volume/ bulk recruiting a plus

Bachelor's degree in human resources and/ or business administration from an accredited college or university or the international equivalent preferred

Demonstrated capability to recruit positions in various levels of the organization (entry to senior level)

Proven ability to source, interview and screen candidates (management, specialty and high volume roles)

Demonstrated ability to apply judgment to ambiguous or out-of-policy situations; attention to detail and the ability to deal appropriately with confidential information

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; experience and ability to discuss with and influence leadership teams, as well as to collaborate with and influence various clients, stakeholders and related teams

Working knowledge of accepted human resources recruitment practices.

Ability to acquire knowledge of recruitment processes in various countries.

Ability to negotiate terms and conditions with candidates within established guidelines.

Ability to communicate tactfully, verbally and in writing, to gather and relay information in a multinational environment consisting of department heads, managers, coworkers, and shipboard employees.

Ability to productively work under tight time constraints and stressful situations.

Ability to read, write and speak in English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, co-workers, and shipboard employees.

Ability to handle multiple projects/requisitions simultaneously; project management and time management skills

Ability to work under pressure; work in a targets and timeline driven environment

Cruise industry experience preferred

Exceptional attention to detail

Solid experience with Applicant Tracking Systems

Prior work with PeopleSoft or other HRIS Enterprise Resource Planning System

Financial Responsibilities (For Management Roles Only)

Reviews and approves various invoices and paperwork for newly hired employees to ensure accuracy and consistency.

Participates with individual departments in the development and maintenance of the budget along with appropriate cost containments when required.
