Security Operations Engineer
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Security Operations Engineer deploys and maintains mission-critical information security systems including firewalls, VPN, web proxy, and endpoint security tools. You will fulfill security change requests, support break-fix incidents, and participate in the on-call rotation.
Key to this role are excellent technical/troubleshooting skills, enterprise change management experience, and a focus on delivering business-enabling information security services quickly, reliably, and safely.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Technical excellence – Administer security systems to deliver high availability and security
- Troubleshooting skills – Identify and fix root causes of failure, especially firewall and proxy issues
- Change Management - Ensure that outages & change requests are correctly documented, prioritized, and closed.
- Ability to learn – Learn to provide basic support across a variety of security systems
- Ability to specialize – Become an expert in 1-3 of our tools so you can solve difficult problems
- Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations to resolve critical issues.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 6+ years of experience in information technology
- 2+ years of experience in information security operations role
- Demonstrated ability to perform independent analysis of complex problems
- Deep technical knowledge in multiple enterprise security tool categories, especially firewalls, VPN, web security proxies, and endpoint security tools.
- Prior experience with Service-Now and ZScaler are strongly preferred.
- Broad IT knowledge, including hardware, virtualization, networking, architecture, common protocols, files systems and operating systems.
- An ability to communicate complex technical issues to English-speakers from many cultures
