The Key Account Manager for Norway position is based in Oslo, Norway.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Key Account Manager for Norway will serve as the primary points of contact for assigned travel agents and trade partners, fostering long-term, mutually beneficial relationships across the region to drive sales growth. Key responsibilities include developing and executing strategic sales and marketing initiatives to drive passenger volume and revenue growth, leveraging social selling techniques via platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn. The role involves active engagement through face-to-face meetings, virtual interactions, and industry events, as well as overseeing retail travel agents in Norway. Collaborating with internal teams, the role requires managing budgets, analysing market trends, and providing insights to support the company's objectives.
Working together with the Senior Sales Manager, the Key Account Manager will play a vital role in expanding Royal Caribbean’s footprint and ensuring exceptional support for trade partners across the region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary contact for assigned agents in Norway, building and nurturing long-term, mutually beneficial relationships.
- Support the Senior Sales Manager with partners across the Nordic region as needed.
- Develop and execute detailed sales and marketing plans for trade partners, aligned with regional targets and budgets, with a focus on increasing passenger volume and revenue.
- Identify opportunities for growth within existing accounts and actively pursue new prospects.
- Maintain accurate and current travel partner databases to support effective account management.
- Prepare and own quarterly and annual sales activity and co-op plans to maximise market penetration. Plan and coordinate the utilisation of co-op marketing budgets annually to optimise brand presence and sales impact.
- Negotiate and finalise sales targets and agreements with travel partners, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
- Monitor and follow up on collaborative efforts with trade partners, conducting regular ROI analyses of their marketing campaigns to optimise strategies.
- Conduct regular sales activities through face-to-face visits, video conferences, and phone calls.
- Oversee retail travel agents in Norway, creating and executing visit plans—combining personal meetings and follow-up calls—to strengthen relationships. Regular travel within Norway to visit stores will be required.
- Initiate, execute, and follow up on promotional activities such as presentations, site visits, workshops, seminars (e.g., Seminar at Sea), cruise nights, and industry events.
- Represent Royal Caribbean International at travel industry functions, workshops, trade shows, and cruise nights within the Nordic region.
- Plan, organise, and deliver training sessions for travel trade staff at various levels, including product education, automation training, and workshops.
- Utilise social platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIn to engage with partners, stakeholders, and trade contacts, enhancing relationship-building efforts and driving sales opportunities through effective social selling techniques.
- Promote the company's terms, conditions, and automation solutions to maximise trade volume and operational efficiency.
- Keep abreast of market developments, competitor activities, and regulatory changes in Norway and Finland, sharing insights with the team as needed.
- Provide actionable insights and feedback to internal teams to support product development and marketing strategies.
- Manage and track sales, marketing, and co-op budgets to ensure effective use of resources without exceeding allocated budgets.
- Record all meaningful conversations with trade partners in CRM / Salesforce in a timely manner and follow up consistently on the SMART actions agreed
- Use CRM tools effectively to monitor activities, track results, and support strategic decision-making.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on sales performance, market trends, and activity outcomes for internal review and strategic planning as needed.
- Collaborate with marketing, contact centre and commercial teams, and other departments to ensure seamless support for agents and clients.
- Participate in sales meetings and strategic projects assigned by senior management, including tasks outside usual responsibilities.
- Uphold Royal Caribbean’s policies, procedures, and ethical standards in all activities.
- Demonstrate strong product knowledge and represent the company professionally at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Speak fluent Norwegian and English. Another European language could be helpful but not essential
3-5 years of sales experience from a similar position
Can demonstrate strong sales results in previous roles
Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships
Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data, perform ROI analyses, and leverage tools like Power BI or Excel to measure partner performance and inform decision-making.
Travel Flexibility: Willingness and ability to travel regularly within Norway and potentially other Nordic countries.
FINANCIAL/QUANTITIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and coordinate co-op marketing budgets annually to optimise brand presence and sales impact.
Negotiate and finalise sales targets and agreements with trade partners aligned with company financial goals.
Achieve and exceed quarterly sales targets
Monitor and report on sales performance, market trends, and activity outcomes through detailed analytics.
INTERNAL/ EXTERNAL RELATIONSHIPS
Internal
- Senior Sales Manager: Acts as the direct line manager, facilitating collaboration and ensuring strategic alignment.
- Sales team: Peers and team members working towards the same goals.
- Trade marketing teams: Coordinating campaigns, promotional activities and events, and brand messaging.
- Commercial Team: Sharing insights, feedback, and aligning on travel agent targets.
- Revenue Team: Agree on revenue opportunities, agency specific offers and groups
- Customer Service/Contact Centre Teams: Collaborating on customer and trade partner support.
External
- Travel Agents and Trade Partners: Building and maintaining relationships, negotiating, and supporting sales.
- Retail Travel Agents in Norway: Direct engagement to strengthen relationships including training and brand awareness.
- Industry Associations, Trade Shows, and Events: Representing Royal Caribbean and networking within the industry.
- Tourism Boards and Regulatory Authorities: Staying informed of market developments and regulatory changes. Supporting events such as seminars, cruise nights, and workshops.
- Social Media Platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn): Engaging with partners and stakeholders through social selling.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be a resident of Norway, ideally based in Oslo
- Full, valid driving license
- Ability to undertake regular travel, including overnight stays and site visits
- Comfortable with traveling by car, train, or air as needed
- Ability to attend face-to-face meetings, industry events, and training sessions, often requiring extended periods of standing or walking
- Capable of flexible working hours to accommodate meetings, travel, and event schedules
- Ability to lift or carry promotional materials, samples, or presentation equipment as required during events or visits
WORKING CONDITIONS
- The role involves a combination of office-based work and frequent travel within Norway and the Nordic region.
- Expected to attend the office approximately three times per week when not visiting agents or attending events.
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours to accommodate meetings, travel schedules, and industry events.
- Ability to handle a dynamic and mobile working environment, including adaptability to different working settings.
- Potential for occasional evening or weekend work during industry events or trade shows.
- Regular use of CRM tools and digital platforms for communication and reporting.
Work Environment:
The environment includes work inside/outside the office, travel to other offices, as well as domestic, international, and shipboard travel. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations. Ability to travel an estimated 60% of the time. This position requires the ability to work in both an office and marine (ship) environment. As mentioned before, this position requires an office space where private conversations can take place in order to protect the confidentiality of our patients.
