The Royal Caribbean Group’s Entertainment team has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Specialist, Entertainment Audio & Visual Support, reporting to the Lead, Studio Production & Tech Integrity.
Position Summary
Operates and oversees Royal Caribbean’s in-house rehearsal facility’s sound, light and visual equipment on a daily basis. Sets up, operates and maintains all audio, video, and lighting equipment that is used for rehearsals, meetings, presentations, and special events. Collaborates with senior leadership to support entertainment technical evolution of the rehearsal studios.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operating, maintaining, and repairing sound, light and video equipment at the Royal Production Studio including coordinating the replacement of broken equipment and disposal of used/unrepairable/obsolete gear.
- Prepare rooms in advance of new cast rehearsals.
- Weekly check-ins on running rehearsals to ensure proper care and maintenance of equipment is being monitored.
- Provide high level operational training for production teams and shoreside staff on all audio, visual and lighting equipment for studio operation as needed, to include creating step-by-step instructions for ongoing support.
- Retain equipment providers and repair vendors; purchase equipment as needed and organize all electronic repairs to include, but not limited to, keyboards, mics, music stands, mixing consoles, speakers, amps, RF receivers, RF bodypack transmitters, IEMs, iPads, and cables.
- Maintain and oversee inventory of all a/v equipment to include, but not limited to, microphones, mic packs, receivers, cables, keyboards, iPads, mic stands, music stands, amps, lamps, projectors, lighting equipment, video equipment, computers, etc.
- Maintain the Qlab carts and files for Musical Theatre product rehearsals.
- Prepare documents and quotes for studio repairs and upgrades to a/v equipment.
- Monitor and track all budgetary items related to studio audio visual requirements.
- Working under direction of Studio Floor Supervisor, assisting with daily studio readiness to support rehearsing production needs.
- Create weekly reports for all sound issues and repairs.
- Ongoing support of organization of all scenic, prop, supplies, and audio-visual equipment.
- Record and stream, distribute and archive all video recordings of studio Office Runs.
- Assist production teams with additional daily support requests.
- Assist in building and maintaining daily/future scheduling of production requirements.
- Primary operator for lighting and sound consoles in support of final runs, events, etc.
- Set up rooms for company events at the studios as requested by Senior Management, which may include earlier starts or later finishes as needed, to include setting basic lighting looks and projection set up.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s of Fine Arts / Technical Theater and/or demonstrated relevant industry experience.
- 2 - 5 years professional experience in sound, light and audio visual required.
- Knowledge and experience in PC, Mac, and software: Office 365, Excel, Smartsheet, and Word
- Must have good problem-solving skills and ability to manage last minute emergencies in a calm and organized manner.
- Excellent communications skills.
- Component level troubleshooting for related a/v equipment.
- Scenic, prop, and carpentry highly desired.
- Experience implementing production shows onboard ships or theatrical productions highly desired.
- Experience/familiarity with performer flying and entertainment rigging a plus.
Physical Requirement

The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations and may lift, push, pull or move 10 - 15 pounds. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
