ABOUT THE ROLE
Position Summary
The Director of Planning and Data Analytics for Silversea is responsible for overseeing the development and execution of comprehensive data analytics and strategic planning initiatives. This role involves leading a team of professionals to analyze complex data sets, develop predictive models, and provide actionable insights that drive business growth and operational efficiency. They are also responsible for setting air pricing and strategy for the brand, balancing guest satisfaction and financial impact. The leader will drive alignment and integration with RCG teams, leveraging them for data and reporting, while building Silversea specific reports and analyses in addition. They will actively champion the adoption of AI and analytics in revenue management at Silverea. The Director will collaborate closely with various departments, including Finance, Operations, Marketing, and IT, to align initiatives and ensure seamless execution. This position requires a visionary leader with strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence and drive change across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- System and Tool Enhancement: Maintain and enhance a suite of analytical tools that forecast, maximize, and report on key business metrics.
- Data Integration: Incorporate new sources of data and insights, including macroeconomic, consumer, competitive, and operational data, into strategic planning.
- Redesign and Update Reporting: Oversee the redesign and update of all reporting resulting from new data sources and analytical tools.
- Collaborate with Data Team: Partner with the Data team to ensure the organizational structure supports all data, analytical, and reporting needs and integrate with RCG teams.
Team Leadership
- Oversee Analytics and Planning Teams: Manage teams responsible for data analysis, predictive modeling, and business intelligence.
- Foster Collaboration and Innovation: Promote a collaborative environment and encourage cross-functional teamwork.
- Continuous Learning: Provide opportunities for team members to develop their technical skills and knowledge.
- Mentorship and Support: Act as a supportive leader and mentor, offering guidance and support to team members.
Advanced Analytics and Data Science
- Deploy Data Science: Build and maintain models that inform strategic planning and improve forecast capabilities.
- Maintain Balance: Between quick, high level business analysis and complex data analysis based on the needs of each situation
- Continuous Improvement: Stay at the forefront of data science and machine learning techniques to ensure continuous improvement of models.
Innovation and Strategic Implementation
- Adapt to Business Changes: Anticipate business changes and guide the department in adopting RCG processes and decision-making tools.
- Align with Leadership: Consult with senior leadership to ensure alignment and provide insights and analytics to influence decisions.
- Drive Strategic Implementation: Set and implement strategies for automation, visualization, and data analytics.
- Develop New Tools: Lead the development of new reporting and forecasting tools to support strategic planning and operational areas.
Communication and Consultation
- Support Corporate Initiatives: Provide analytical and modeling expertise to support company initiatives.
- Consult Across Levels: Provide consulting expertise at all levels, including department executives, to develop practical solutions.
- Clear Presentation: Clearly explain tools and results to management, developing and delivering presentations that communicate technical methods and impacts in business terms.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Education and experience that will enable you to excel: You have an advanced degree in Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Econometrics or Statistics, with an MBA preferred. You bring at least 10 years of work experience in a related field.
