ABOUT THE ROLE
The position is designing, implementing, delivering, and maintaining IT solutions. It should conceive applications that meet the business requirements, are efficient and are easy to maintain. It will coordinate all the activities of the development team and work with the other teams, departments, or external vendors to do all the necessary to reach the goals.
- Building and integrating information systems to meet the company’s needs
- Assessing the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions to improve it
- Resolving complex or high priority technical problems as they arise
- Assessing cyber security standards of the solutions and making sure they follow company guidelines
- Providing supervision and guidance to development teams
- Continually researching the current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed
- Informing various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented
- Assessing the business impact that certain technical choices have
- Document and monitor requirements needed to institute proposed updates
- Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions
- Identify opportunities for process improvements
- Prepare and document testing requirements
- Help to identify areas where IT can support business needs and goals
- Build and migrate software and services across the organization
- Manage the development team / handle on-site rotation
- Work with product and delivery teams to develop scalable solutions and products.
- Communicate and consult with clients and internal stakeholders to develop appropriate solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
- Proven work experience for at least 5 years as a Solution Architect or similar role in the luxury cruise industry
- Professional experience working with and analyzing computer hardware and software
- Experience with system installation, configuration, and analysis (Microsoft environment – Strong IIS experience required and Linux systems)
- In-depth understanding of coding languages (tech stack below)
- Knowledge of major design patterns and approaches
- Basic knowledge of networking and infrastructure
- Experienced with scalable/HA solutions
- Sound knowledge of various operating systems and databases (MS-SQL mandatory)
- Efficient communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects
- Ability to build strategies, identify and organize priorities
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Understanding of best practices regarding system security measures
- Teamwork skills
- Problem-solving aptitude
- Advanced understanding of business analysis techniques and processes
- Mentorship attitude appreciated
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized University is a plus.
FINANCIAL/QUANTITIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
Overseeing the development aspect give a scope that represents 40% of the department OPEX budget and 65% of the CAPEX.
With team scope in mind, the quality of the work indirectly affects:
- Guests NPS / Revenue (managing solutions that directly generate revenue or POS solutions that directly affect the cashflow).
- Crew automation/optimization affecting on-board workload and efficient (automation solution have an impact over the headcount).
- Cyber-security of various systems.
