ROLE OVERVIEW:
The Analyst, Accounting plays a key role within the Finance organization, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records through timely reconciliations, journal entries, revenue accounting activities, and balance sheet reviews. This position is responsible for managing credit card transaction accounting, supporting the air cost recognition process, and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to resolve accounting matters efficiently.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, and proactive, with strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles and internal controls.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Credit Card Accounting & Reconciliations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all credit card transaction matters.
- Manage relationships with merchants and payment providers and follow up on credit card-related issues, including guest disputes and chargebacks.
- Perform monthly and quarterly credit card reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
Financial Reporting & General Accounting
- Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Monitor and follow up on open accounting items to ensure prompt resolution.
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
Balance Sheet & Internal Controls
- Prepare quarterly SOX reconciliations and Balance Sheet account reviews.
- Ensure compliance with internal control requirements and company policies.
- Identify and escalate accounting risks or unusual transactions.
Air Cost Accounting
- Coordinate the air cost recognition process with internal stakeholders.
- Reconcile related accounts and prepare payments to airline and financial partners, including Delta, Bank of America and Royal Caribbean Group.
- Ensure timely and accurate recording of air-related expenses.
Business Support & Audit
- Assist the Accounting Manager with ad hoc reporting and analysis related to revenue accounting.
- Support external and internal audit requests by preparing schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and strengthen controls.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
Experience
- 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Experience in account reconciliations, month-end close processes, and financial reporting.
- Experience with revenue accounting, credit card accounting, or audit support is preferred.
- Experience in a multinational environment, hospitality, travel, cruise, or service industry is an advantage.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP systems (Oracle or SAP Navision is a plus).
