Skillbridge Intern, Cyber Threat Hunter

Position Summary:  

As a Intern, Threat Hunter, you will play a crucial role in identifying, analyzing, and combating cyber threats within our organization. Your expertise will be vital in conducting threat hunts, integrating threat intelligence, and supporting incident response efforts. This position demands a keen understanding of advanced cyber threats, innovative thinking for designing and implementing security measures, and a collaborative approach to enhance our overall security posture. 

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Monitor and analyze cyber threats targeting cruise industry systems, including shipboard networks, reservation platforms, and passenger information systems. 

• Utilize threat-hunting techniques to proactively identify vulnerabilities and security gaps within our infrastructure, including onboard entertainment, communications, and operational systems. 

• Research and stay informed on emerging cyber threats affecting the cruise industry, such as ransomware attacks, phishing schemes, and vulnerabilities in maritime communications and IoT systems. 

• Investigate and analyze suspicious activities in real-time using security tools such as SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems, log files, and network traffic. 

• Assist in the creation of threat hunt reports, providing actionable recommendations for improving security measures within the cruise context. 

• Document findings, investigations, and security incidents to improve future threat-hunting and security processes. 

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the cyber security strategy through lessons learned and best practices. 

 

Eligibility

  • Must meet DoD SkillBridge qualification requirements (DODI 1322.29) 

  • Must have unit commander written authorization to participate prior to applying 

  • Must participate through Hiring Our Heroes program 

  • Must be detail oriented to ensure accuracy and a demonstrated ability to work independently and use proper judgment 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including business writing required 

  • Working knowledge in computer systems, including Excel, Word and Access   

  • Bachelor’s degree in cyber security, Information Technology, Maritime Technology, or industry related experience. 

  • A basic understanding of the cruise industry’s unique technology, systems, and operational infrastructure. 

  • Familiarity with cyber security principles, threat detection techniques, and incident response. 

  • Experience with monitoring tools like SIEM platforms, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and security logs. 

  • Awareness of common cyber threats in the cruise industry, such as data breaches, ransomware, and vulnerabilities in shipboard and reservation systems. 

  • Basic proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automating security tasks. 

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify patterns and suspicious behavior within large sets of data. 

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while maintaining attention to detail. 

  • Strong communication skills to relay complex security findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

  • A proactive, inquisitive mindset with a passion for learning and staying up-to-date with the latest cyber security trends.
