Royal Caribbean Group’s IT Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Manager, Solution Engineering reporting to the Senior Director, Global Connectivity.
Position Summary
The Senior Manager of Solution Engineering reports to the Senior Director, Global Connectivity. They are a leader in technology thinking and solution in the Infrastructure & Operations space. They are expected to know engineering principles and best practices for, solution design, design architecture, emerging technologies, cross platform troubleshooting techniques, and layer 1 to 7 testing approaches. The role represents and champions the core values of the organization and encourages collaboration across all teams. The Senior Manager of Solution Engineering is responsible for working with senior management and executives to set technology vision and direction, assuring alignment with business goals and objectives while also managing a team of like-minded engineers to develop new technology ideas and solutions across out IT landscape. The role is responsible for driving engineering solutions and technology selections for all IT infrastructure and technologies within the Royal Caribbean products portfolio. They are expected to be a solution owner from project inception through its delivery in close collaboration with their peer operations engineers, manager, Product Owners, and Enterprise Architects. The role creates proposals and recommends solutions for approval and reviews technical designs to ensure alignment with the best architecture practices/principals and company technology vision. They are responsible for promoting, enforcing, and documenting solution decisions across impacted programs. The Senior Manager of Solution Engineering is a senior technology leader in the organization and contributes at the highest levels for technology decisions, selections, and strategy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages a team of solution engineers and works closely with partners providing design and deployment ideas and solutions for RCGs vast technology landscape.
- Act as the primary technical solution engineer and point of contact for internal customers, providing end-to-end infrastructure solutions that span multiple technical domains
- Collaborate with specialized infrastructure teams to design and implement integrated solutions across end-user computing, cloud platforms, networking, database systems, and enterprise applications
- Lead technical discovery sessions with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into comprehensive technical solutions
- Design scalable, resilient, and cost-effective solutions that leverage both cloud and on-premises infrastructure components
- Create detailed solution architectures, technical specifications, and implementation roadmaps
- Manage solution delivery across multiple infrastructure teams, ensuring alignment and coordinated execution
- Provide regular status updates and maintain clear communication with stakeholders throughout the solution lifecycle
- Identify and mitigate technical risks and dependencies across infrastructure domains
- Drive standardization and best practices across infrastructure solutions
- Hands on R&D / POC work for evaluating new technologies
- Create and maintain system documentation for solution design, domain technologies
- Improve existing processes through solutions to recurring problems and enhancements to existing solutions or documentation.
- Strong technical leadership and communications skills including teamwork, facilitation, and coordination to ensure successful creation of roadmaps.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in infrastructure technology roles with demonstrated expertise across multiple domains, including:
- Cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Traditional data center operations (compute, storage)
- Network architecture (LAN, WAN, Satellite)
- End-user computing and mobility
- Database systems and middleware
- DevOps practices and tools
- Strong understanding of IT governance frameworks, compliance/security best practices, FinOps principles, and cost optimization
- Experience in solution architecture, infrastructure automation/orchestration, and technical documentation
- Strategic thinking with the ability to design holistic, scalable solutions
- Proven leadership, stakeholder management, and cross-functional project management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication with strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities
- Accountability and ownership mentality with the ability to manage complex initiatives
- Knowledge of agile methodologies and capacity planning
- Relevant technical certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, ITIL, TOGAF) preferred
