Royal Caribbean Group’s IT Delivery Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Manager, IT Programs reporting to the Director, Technology Delivery
This position will work on-site in Miramar, Florida.
Position Summary:
The Senior Manager, IT Programs is responsible for the overall direction and management of large Information Technology projects across IT disciplines (i.e. Infrastructure, Shipboard, Enterprise Product, Information Security, etc.) and potentially business units, ensuring consistency of processes across projects.
The Sr. Program Manager is responsible for aligning pipeline and active project schedules and dependencies, resolving environment and resource conflicts across projects, ensure quality deliverables and maximize the organizations throughput within their discipline. Proactively collaborates internally and externally to solve technical and business problems. Is a point of escalation for team members and a key point of contact for business leadership. Leads others and is accountable for the results of the team and/or function. Viewed by others as a leader and role model of corporate culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Delivery of project scope on time and on budget as per communicated and agreed to targets.
- Adhere to ITLC, SOX, PCI and internal workflows and templates for consistent delivery and communication.
- Proactively and accurately manage project financials to meet department planning, forecasting, and reporting deadlines
- Maintain plans at appropriate level of detail to provide Resource Managers visibility to staffing needs by skill set. Proactive engage Resource Managers in securing resources for project work and communicate any changes in demand throughout project.
- Ensure proper and timely project communication to all external and internal stakeholders (status reports, steering committee, resource managers, etc.).
- Leads, mentors, influences and supports Project Managers and Scrum Masters on complex projects and assignments.
- Establishes project management policies, guidelines, metrics and templates. Looks for ways to streamline project management processes and tools and increase efficiency and success rate of project management team.
- Adheres to, and advances, workflows across IT governance functions to ensure transparency across initiatives.
- Provides centralized project management services such as planning, scheduling, estimates, costing, project accounting and risk assessment. Works with Technical Leads to align pipeline and active project schedules and dependencies.
- Facilitate project/portfolio reviews of critical /key projects and programs.
- Tracks and reports project or program status, ensuring that risks are reviewed and mitigated, issues are escalated and resolved, and changes are documented and approved.
- Collaborates with internal and external constituents, including suppliers, to meet common goals and resolve conflicting issues.
- Applies subject matter expertise in the execution of assigned functional responsibilities; remains current with industry trends, especially as related to contemporary project management techniques as they impact corporate objectives.
- Manages Program Manager, Project Managers, Project Analysts and Project Administrators within their team.
- Monitors work demand and makes decisions to augment team with contractors as needed.
- Recruits and makes hiring decisions for positions reporting to them. Makes compensation decisions for their positions with the guidance and approval of the Delivery Director and HR.
- Monitors performance provides timely feedback and coaching/mentoring, and performs formal and informal performance reviews and discussions.
- Develops resources by helping to identify training needs and opportunities. Creates formal Development Plans as needed.
- Participate, in collaboration with IT Leadership, in the definition and implementation of Technical and Functional IT strategies, to align to corporate strategy and Key Performance Indicators.

Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in area of specialty, or equivalent experience
- Greater than 5 years’ experience in the program or portfolio management field or in a related area
- Relevant certification in project management, Scaled Agile, and/or degree in a relevant technology
- Familiarity with PPM solutions (Ex. Workfront, Clarizen, Planview) for managing programs

- Articulates key issues and considerations for delivering global, distributed applications.
- Conducts training on the full range of delivery methodologies, products and platforms.
- Designs and implements new and emerging delivery methodologies.
- Monitors industry and other organizations for innovations in applications delivery approaches.
- Monitors organization's development environment; contributes to best practices and policies.
- Presents information on the history and evolution of application delivery processes and components.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Strong leadership skills; proven experience in leading and developing technical professionals
- Well versed in project management techniques, processes, tools and methodologies
- Must have demonstrated experience utilizing project plans, issue logs, risk/mitigation strategies
- Demonstrates strong knowledge and capabilities across specific area of responsibility
- Experience in leading or directing the work of department staff or project teams

Financial Responsibilities:
- Creates and manages budget for own operating group and programs/projects under their supervision (Program or operating budgets range from $50M-$100M)
- Acts as a steward of the company in ensuring that program/project budgets are best utilized to achieve stated scope and so that anticipated benefits are realized
- Accountable for delivery of projects or programs within budget, on schedule and of quality
- Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities
- Ensures efficient utilization of staff and non-labor resources
- Solid understanding of IT estimation activities May lead large/complex estimation activities
- Accountable for financial implications and cost of systems and services
- Responsible for defining optimization opportunities to manage expenses
