The Royal Caribbean Group’s IT Shipboard Newbuild Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Manager, IT Product Construction, Destination reporting to the Director, IT Product Construction.


This position will work on-site in Miramar, Florida.

 

Position Summary:

 

Senior Manager, IT Product Construction, Destination manages the portfolio of IT Construction projects for Royal Caribbean Group’s Destination Products, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

 

The role includes developing and implementing IT strategies and initiatives that align with the overall business objectives. Managing and leading a team of IT professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentorship. Collaboration with other key departments and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and delivery of IT scope on our land based guest sites. Monitoring and reporting on the performance of IT projects, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions as needed are also part of the responsibilities. This role will also work with key product and operational owners to ensure business capability needs are properly defined for implementation. Ensuring compliance with IT policies, procedures, and standards, managing the allocation of resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment to optimize project delivery, and staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies are also crucial.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Supports the intake process of projects through the governance process, inclusive of IT projects and broader Royal Caribbean Gorup initiatives.
  • Lead the capability requirements for each site’s business model and integration requirements with product owners for architecture and build out.
  • Lead design and integration activities between IT and RCG’s internal and external partners.
  • Create a collaborative partnership among portfolio stakeholders that enables resource demand planning, budget management, initiative strategic alignment, change management, and project pipeline planning decisions.
  • Works with IT Finance to support labor forecasting and reporting needs on projects and programs across the organization.
  • Partners with other business departments (Marine, Logistics,  Newbuild, Engineering, Architecture) to engage and onboard needed resources in order to implement scope.
  • Manages portfolio artifacts, decisions, communications, metrics, and reporting.
  • Manages $30M -50M annual budget across multiple projects including budget expenditures, spend analysis, variances and developing controls and metrics for ensuring on-budget performance KPIs.
  • Lead and support Subject Matter Leads, Program and Project Managers and Business/Project Analysts within portfolio with delivery and reviews to confirm adherence to Delivery Team methodology. 
  • Develops and delivers project management training to improve consistency and quality in project delivery. 
  • Develop and deploy project and program auditing strategy with a focus on visibility into trends, communication to steering committees, risk mitigation
  • Support product integration within RCG sites and asset with insight contributions from within, and across, portfolio activities.
  • Build strong relationships within Royal Caribbean Group to understand the business challenges and opportunities.
  • Manages Executive Portfolio views and reports, provide timely and actionable stakeholder updates in reduce roadblocks and risks
  • Support the development, innovation and adherence to the Royal Caribbean Group’s IT Delivery Team methodologies including the support & creation of project management best practices, tools, and ways for Royal Caribbean Group to drive efficiency in order to reduce costs and add value.
  • Works closely with Product teams, Site Architects and Construction partners to develop delivery goals and execution strategies related to the project scope.


Qualifications and Education:

 

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT project management, product management or operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Experience in amusement park operations preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong leadership and team management skills.
    • Able to present direct and concise information to Vice President and above roles.
    • Experience working with hospitality systems preferred.
    • Experience in executing heavy IT infrastructure projects in a construction environment.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • In-depth knowledge of IT project management methodologies and tools.
    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
    • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in IT project management.
    • Demonstrates a wide degree of creativity with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Must have ability to adapt to shifting priorities and align activities to meet organizational goals
  • Certifications: PMP, PRINCE2, or other relevant project management certifications are preferred.

 

Financial/Quantitative Responsibilities:

 

  • Creates and manages budget for programs/projects under their supervision (Annual Budgets range from $10M-$20M)
  • Acts as a steward of the company in ensuring that program/project budgets are best utilized to achieve stated scope and so that anticipated benefits are realized
  • Accountable for delivery of projects or programs within budget, on schedule and of quality
  • Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities
  • Ensures efficient utilization of staff and non-labor resources
  • Solid understanding of IT estimation process and lead large/complex estimation activities
  • Accountable for financial implications and cost of systems and services
  • Responsible for defining optimization opportunities to manage expenses
  • Manage the allocation of resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to optimize project delivery and manage project expenses
  • Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and standards
  • Develop and implement IT strategies and initiatives that align with the overall business objectives


Internal/External Relationships:

 

  • Would require the ability to engage/collaborate with IT integration and auxiliary service vendors (eg. HVAC, Electrical, Regulatory)  as well as internal and external stakeholders (Architects, Marine Engineers, Turn Key Suppliers, Construction Contractor and Outfitters).

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The environment includes work inside/outside the office, travel to other offices, possibly travel domestic and international, and work in shipboard functions. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations. The role will be required to travel internationally approximately 30% of the time to join ships in the field, this could include dry dock where the work environment is a heavy construction site where they will be exposed to conditions including noise levels, fumes from paints or sealers, cold or hot temperatures that are distracting and uncomfortable.
