Royal Caribbean Group’s Information Technology Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Manager, Engineering reporting to the Director, Shipboard Engineering.
This role is located in Miramar, FL.
Position Summary
The Senior Manager of Product Engineering will lead and manage multiple software engineering teams within our Shipboard Engineering division. This role is responsible for driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality software products. You will be a key leader in the engineering organization, responsible for building and developing high-performing teams, and collaborating closely with product management and other external teams to align technical strategy with business goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and mentor multiple software engineering teams to foster a culture of excellence and high performance.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to ensure the development of robust, scalable, and reliable shipboard software solutions.
- Collaborate with product management to understand product vision and translate it into a technical roadmap and execution plan.
- Work with external teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and alignment of engineering efforts.
- Establish and enforce best practices for the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Ensure the stability, performance, and quality of all shipboard engineering products and services.
- Manage and allocate engineering resources effectively to meet project deadlines and business objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and methodologies.
- The role is responsible for managing and overseeing an IT, labor, and non-labor budgets of $2M to $4M dollars.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or related technology, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of progressive software development experience with a proven track record of technical leadership
- Proven ability to build, lead, and manage multiple high-performing engineering teams
- Experience managing large labor and non-labor budgets
- Extensive experience in the development and support of complex, large-scale software applications
- Strong understanding of solution architecture including cloud, microservices, and serverless designs
- Experience in strategic planning and execution of technical roadmaps
- Expert knowledge of the software development lifecycle and modern development methodologies; data-driven, results-oriented manager
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Technical expertise in Kafka, NoSQL, Java, SpringBoot, and DevOps; strong front-end development skills with React and Node.js
- Solid understanding of operational technologies including Google Apigee, containerization, and AWS
