Royal Caribbean Group’s Data Analytics and AI Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Manager, Data Governance reporting to the Director, Data Governance & Quality.

 

This role will work in-person in Miramar, Florida.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Data Governance Senior Manager position’s responsibilities include managing a Data Governance team and providing thought leadership in the areas of Data Governance, Data Visibility, and Data Privacy. Drives cultural change, ensuring data governance initiatives are understood and adopted by the organization. Partners with the data team and data stewards to ensure business needs are translated into technical solutions. Leads efforts with business partners to identify metadata management improvement opportunities, define data standards, and map out processes to remediate metadata management problems. Drives efforts to monitor data understanding and ensure compliance with established standards and metrics. Accountable for creation and maintenance of appropriate documentation, operating procedures for process work, and development of the business data glossary across data domains. Coaches, mentors, and develops peers to promote data governance and foster data stewardship. Assists the Chief Data Officer in crafting leadership communications, planning sessions, senior leadership presentation preparation, and moderating Data Governance Council meetings. This position supports the enterprise.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Establish data governance framework, including downstream policies and standards.
  • Develop control structures to ensure the accuracy and quality of data through all upstream and downstream data channels.
  • Define performance and metadata management metrics to indicate compliance with data related policies, standards. Coordinate the resolution of data integrity gaps by working with the enterprise stakeholders.
  • Identify known data protection requirements, serving as the primary knowledge source and point of escalation for business users for data governance, quality, retention, and protection issues.
  • Define, establish, maintain, and communicate metadata, retention, and protection rules and definitions.
  • Define, implement and audit data modeling standards for engineering team.
  • Manage the data catalog program and project initiatives.
  • Provide best practices and ensure legal frameworks are followed with regards to data privacy initiatives.
  • Implement and monitor enterprise metadata change management process.
  • Establish relationships with key vendors and negotiate contracts.
  • Assess and provide recommendations on data governance software tools and technologies.
  • Prepare project cost and labor estimations for enterprise projects.
  • Perform monthly financials, including accruals, actuals, and forecasting as required by enterprise projects.
  • Strategize and prepare roadmaps for future enterprise work and plan and coordinate resources to execute plan.
  • Position requires to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their manager.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Management, Mathematics, Economics,  Statistics or equivalent degree and a Master’s degree in a Business or Science discipline.
  • Ten or more years working in a technology environment, seven or more years in a role influencing the delivery of data to stakeholders.
  • Data Catalog Certification(s) from any software leader in Gartner’s D&A Magic Quadrant.
  • Extensive experience in leading large-scale projects with a team-focused approach, including the ability to prioritize, organize and manage timelines.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Advanced experience implementing data catalogs and metadata management technologies.
  • Advanced experience with data privacy management tools and technologies.
  • Advanced experience in data-related regulatory requirements and data protection solution.
  • Advanced experience in data modeling standards and methodologies.
  • Utilize deep knowledge of data requirements to determine effective solutions to data governance and metadata management challenges.
  • Utilize influencing and communication skills to establish a strong foundation with business partners towards resolution of data governance and metadata problems.
  • Utilize data governance and metadata capabilities to elevate the maturity of enterprise data usage and understanding.
  • Must possess multi-tasking abilities to stay abreast in a fast-paced environment.
