The Royal Caribbean Group’s Data Analytics and AI Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Engineer, Business Intelligence reporting to the Senior Manager, BI & Analytic Systems.

 

This position will work on-site in Miramar, Florida.

 

Position Summary

The Senior Power BI Systems Administrator oversees the administration, operation, monitoring, tuning, and patching of the full stack of Power BI products including, Power BI Report Server, Power BI Gateway, Power BI Premium/Fabric Capacities and Power BI Pro. Demonstrates strong subject-matter expertise in the maintenance and operation of Power BI applications and all its components.  Develops and oversees monitoring systems to measure usage and ensure operational stability.  Serves in a lead role for performing complex technical work and overseeing operations support staff.  Works on multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high bar for customer success.  Promotes and champions the proper use of Power BI across the enterprise.  Stays current on upcoming features and enhancements.  Plans and coordinates patches and upgrades.  Participates in project planning and proof-of-concepts shaping the evolution and best use of Power BI.  Provides training to technical staff and business users.  Conducts research, documents, and recommends best practices keeping up with the business needs of the organization. Learns and leads the support of other BI products the team owns and acquires.  Position requires on call and after-hour support as needed for operations and project support.  Reports to the Senior Manager, Business Intelligence & Analytic Systems.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the Power BI Systems administration including, installation, configuration, tuning, updating and maintenance of software, applications, and servers for shoreside and shipboard environments.
  • Design and implement monitoring, reporting, and alerting to help ensure the Power BI Systems are operating at peak performance and proactively detect anomalies to ensure uptime for the business.
  • Lead and mentor operations support staff in resolving incidents and delivering on assignments.
  • Develop and implement project plans, risk assessments and contingency plans.
  • Research, document, and recommend best practices on the operations, support, and usage of Power BI across the organization.  Promote and champion the proper use of Power BI across the enterprise.
  • Plan and coordinate patches and upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain support knowledgebase.
  • Participate in project planning and proof-of-concepts.
  • Learn and lead the support of other BI products the team owns and acquires.
  • Handle on call and after-hour support requests as needed.

 

Position Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in BI systems administration and support in a medium to large company.
  • 5+ years of experience administering Power BI, SSRS or equivalent systems.
  • 3+ years of experience with Windows server administration.
  • 3+ years of experience in SQL tuning with multi-terabyte size data sources.
  • 3+ years of experience leading BI initiatives in a medium to large company.
  • Strong experience working with Oracle, Databricks, SQL Server and DB2 data platforms.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, OneNote, SharePoint, Teams, Slack, and JIRA.
  • Familiarity with Agile Methodology, Data Warehouse and Data Lake concepts and data analysis.
  • Must have strong leadership and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have strong analytical skills for effective problem solving.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high bar for customer success.
  • Must be capable of articulating technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to mentor and train others in small and large group settings.
  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with Cruise/Travel industry preferred.
