The Royal Caribbean Group’s Data Governance team has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Data Governance Manager reporting to the Data Governance Director. 

 
This position will work on-site in Miramar, Florida. 

 

Position Summary: 

 

The Data Governance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing data policies across the organization. This role ensures that data governance and compliance standards are met and that the organization's data assets are properly managed and utilized in compliance with relevant regulations. 

 

This role will be responsible for overseeing the governance of data used in AI applications, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, and promoting ethical AI practices. This role manages developing and implementing data governance frameworks, monitoring AI data usage, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain the integrity and privacy of data. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  1. Policy Development & Implementation: 

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive data policies, standards, and procedures. 

  • Ensure data policies align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. 

  • Implement and monitor adherence to data governance policies across the organization. 

  1. Data & AI Governance: 

  • Lead data governance initiatives to ensure the integrity, quality, and security of data. 

  • Implement data governance scorecards with key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of data governance processes. 

  • Establish ethical guidelines and compliance standards for AI use. 

  • Develop repeatable standards and implementation processes to ensure product uniformity and quality. 

  • Establish and manage data governance frameworks and committees. 

  1. Regulatory Compliance: 

  • Ensure compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, and other relevant laws. 

  • Stay updated on changes in data privacy laws and adjust policies accordingly. 

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with data policies and regulations. 

  1. Training & Awareness: 

  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate employees on data policies and best practices. 

  • Promote a culture of data governance and privacy within the organization. 

  1. Risk Management: 

  • Identify and mitigate risks related to data management and usage. 

  • Collaborate with IT and legal teams to ensure robust data privacy measures and processes are in place. 

  1. Data Quality Management: 

  • Oversee data quality initiatives to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data. 

  • Collaborate with data users to implement data quality improvement plans. 

  1. Stakeholder Engagement: 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including IT, legal, compliance, and business units. 

  • Act as a point of contact for data policy-related inquiries and issues. 

  • Provide guidance and support to data stakeholders on data policy matters. 

  • Coordinate with data stakeholders to ensure data governance processes are followed. 

  • Maintain open communication with data stakeholders. 

  1. Monitor & Review: 

  • Stay abreast of new data regulations, technologies, and best practices. 

  • Deploy iterative enhancements to refine data governance processes. 

  • Perform regular reviews to assess and update data governance policies and procedures. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or Information Management to support a solid foundation in the principles and technologies used in data management. 

  • At least 5 years of experience in data governance, data policy management, or a related role. 

  • Strong understanding of data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD). 

  • Proven ability to develop and implement data policies and governance frameworks. 

  • Experience with data governance tools and technologies is a plus. 

  • Certification in data governance or data privacy (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CDMP) is preferred. 

 

Knowledge and Skills: 

 

  • Articulate complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders and lead data-focused projects and teams. 

  • Proficient in data management and data governance software. 

  • Demonstrate knowledge in AI, machine learning, or data science, especially in generative AI. 

  • Capacity to inspire and guide teams in the pursuit of data excellence. 

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy. 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. 

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
