Royal Caribbean Group’s Information Technology – Shipboard PMO team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time IT Project Manager reporting to the IT Program Manager – Shipboard PMO.
 

This position will work on-site in Miramar, Florida.

 

Position Summary:

The IT Project Manager is responsible for managing one or more Information Technology projects within the constraints of scope, quality, time and cost to deliver specified requirements and meet customer satisfaction. Performs independently, and proactively collaborates internally and externally to solve technical and business problems.  Leads others, either directly or indirectly, and is accountable for the results of the project team.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and maintain project plans, ensuring all project requirements and objectives are properly documented and budgets are managed.

  • Tracks and reports project or program status, ensuring that risks are reviewed and mitigated, issues are escalated and resolved, and changes are documented and approved.

  • Leads project staff, mentors and influences others on complex projects and assignments.

  • Collaborates with internal and external constituents, including suppliers, to meet common goals and resolve conflicting issues.

  • Applies subject matter expertise in the execution of assigned functional responsibilities; remains current with industry trends.

  • Ensures department processes comply with governance requirements.

  • Interprets, refines and applies methods and procedures in accordance with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Information Technology industry standards and best practices as defined by Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd.

  • Understands budgeting and estimating approaches in an IT realm.  Accurately applies policies and practices for planning and administering a budget.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Delivery

  • Under guidance, plans and estimates simple projects.

  • Produces standard project status reports.

  • Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project.

  • Assists in detailed project plans including cost, schedule, and resource requirements.

  • Provides input for Gantt or PERT charts or their equivalent to track project progress and status.

Producing results

  • Adjusts to new or changing assignments, processes, people, and priorities as business need dictates.

  • Finds or creates ways to measure performance against goals.

  • Identifies and exploits own strengths; solicits support from others to minimize limitations.

  • Seeks out advice, help, and information when needed to accomplish responsibilities.

  • Strives for excellence in performance by surpassing established standards.

Budgeting

  • Documents capital appropriations and project authorizations.

  • Under guidance, produces budget reports of planned vs. actual expenses with variances explained.

  • Applies established organizational practices in budgeting.

  • Uses budgeting and charge-back practices within own area.

Application Delivery Process 

  • Clarifies to others a specific development methodology or process.

  • Documents associated phases, activities, deliverables and processes.

  • Explains relevant documentation, standards, policies and practices.

  • Research phase and task dependencies and considerations.

  • Works with development or delivery of an application.

Financial/Quantitative Responsibilities:

  • Creates and manages budget for projects under their supervision

  • Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities

  • Ensures efficient utilization of staff and non-labor resources

  • Solid understanding of IT estimation activities

  • Accountable for financial implications and cost of systems and services

  • Responsible for defining optimization opportunities to manage expenses

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in area of specialty, or equivalent experience

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the field or in a related area

  • Familiarity in Project & Portfolio Management tools encouraged (Ex. Workfront, Jira)

  • Relevant training or certification in project management and/or degree in a relevant technology

  • Experience in leading or directing the work of project teams

  • Well versed in project management techniques, processes, tools and methodologies

  • Must have demonstrated experience utilizing project plans, issue logs, risk/mitigation strategies

  • Demonstrates strong knowledge and capabilities across specific area of responsibility

  • Proven ability to collaborate with technical peers and management; ability to work with all levels of the organization

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information. The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations and may lift, push, pull or move 10 to 15 pounds. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment:

  • The role will primarily function within the professional IT and business office environments located in South Florida; some occasional business travel is required. The space is in compliance with safety, environment, health, and accessibility requirements.
