Royal Caribbean Group’s IT – Shipboard Newbuild team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time IT Project Manager, IT Product Construction, Destination reporting to Director, IT Product Construction.
This position will work on-site in Miramar, Florida.
Position Summary:
The IT Project Manager, IT Product Construction, Destination position proactively plans, coordinates, and drives project delivery ensuring they are accomplished within the prescribed time frame and budget while meeting all brand guidelines and KPIs. The role liaises with IT Product Teams and Brand operating department representatives involved in the construction build out phase of the destination including but not limited to: Operations, Design, Procurement, Brand Product Development, and external vendors and partners.
Role will partner with key stakeholders to manage scope expectations. Champion the IT product capability/scope for destination projects and work diligently with other execution and product development partners to deliver world class products.
Effectively communicate with partners of various levels across the broader organization through various mediums (i.e. presentations, email, formal/informal meetings).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the successful delivery of all scope within their project purview.
- Collaborates with matrixed constituent department representatives and vendors to outline milestones, establish work plans, responsibilities, scope, and tracking routines.
- Follow-up on team members to meet project deadlines and provide input on team member activities for schedule review process.
- Manages vendors, ensuring they meet our time, budget, safety, and brand guidelines.
- Review overall requirements and venue scope documents for deployment and follow up w/ author to update if necessary.
- Participate in weekly meetings to give updates and status on assigned applications and highlight risks that may arise and determine mitigation actions.
- Coordinates activities to ensure project progresses on schedule; accurately reflects current project status through regular updates of tasks and statuses.
- Communicate project plan status on a regular basis to project team and project stakeholders.
- Establishing goals and analyses project work process.
- Tracks timing, budget, cost control, and reporting. Proactively and accurately manage project financials to meet department planning, forecasting, and reporting deadlines
- Utilizes project management tools and techniques to develop and maintain project scope; manages customer expectations and maintains focus.

- Maintain plans at appropriate level of detail to provide Resource Managers visibility to staffing needs by skill set. Proactive engage Resource Managers in securing resources for project work and communicate any changes in demand throughout project.
- Ensure proper and timely project communication to all external and internal stakeholders (status reports, steering committee, resource managers, etc).
- Leads, mentors, influences and supports subject matter experts on complexity of projects and assignments.
- Enforce project management policies, guidelines, metrics and templates. Looks for ways to streamline project management processes and tools and increase efficiency and success rate of project management team.
- Tracks and reports project status, ensuring that risks are reviewed and mitigated, issues are escalated and resolved, and changes are documented and approved.
- Collaborates with internal and external constituents, including suppliers, to meet common goals and resolve conflicting issues.
Financial/Quantitative Responsibilities:
- Maintains budgets for projects under their supervision
- Accountable for delivery of projects within budget, on schedule and of quality
- Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities
- Ensures efficient utilization of staff and non-labor resources
- Accountable for financial implications and cost of systems and services
- Assist in defining optimization opportunities to manage expenses
- Manage the allocation of resources, including personnel, budget, and equipment, to optimize project delivery and manage project expenses
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, procedures, and standards
Internal/External Relationships:
- Would require the ability to engage/collaborate with IT integration and auxiliary service vendors (eg. HVAC, Electrical, Regulatory) as well as internal and external stakeholders (Architects, Marine Engineers, Turnkey Suppliers, Construction Contractor and Outfitters).
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience working in the infrastructure project management.
- 3+ years of Project Management preferred.
- Experience with technical, user, and business issues in a fast-paced hospitality organization.
- Proven analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions that ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
- Ability to think strategically and drive ideas into action, with a positive outlook and willingness to take personal initiative.
- Experience with technical, user, and business issues in a fast-paced online organization.
- Experience working with project execution teams creating key requirement documentations and project artifacts.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication and project leadership skills, including an ability to communicate and influence at an executive level.
- Possesses analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and develop project deliverables.
- Proven ability to collaborate with and achieve results through others, plus the ability to build strong and balanced relationships, and the capability to interact within all levels of the organization.
- Comfortable working with international teams and in construction sites.
- Effectively provide overall leadership across multiple teams, while working collaboratively to delivery with quality on time.
- Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in IT project management.
- Experience in executing heavy IT infrastructure projects in a construction environment.
- Certifications: PMP, or other relevant project management certifications are preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information. The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations and may lift, push, pull or move 10 to 15 pounds. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
- The role will be required to travel internationally approximately 30-50% of the time in the field, this could include shipyard, ships or new destinations where the work environment is a heavy construction site where they will be exposed to conditions including noise levels, dust, fumes from paints or sealers, cold or hot temperatures that are distracting and uncomfortable.
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The environment includes work inside/outside the office, travel to other offices, possibly travel domestic and international, and work in shipboard functions. A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard or offsite locations.
