POSITION OVERVIEW

The Head of Investor Relations will have direct responsibility for the Company’s financial communications, including day-to-day relationship with research analysts and investors, quarterly earnings releases, annual and quarterly reports, and investor presentations.  This individual will work closely with the CFO and other members of the executive leadership team to communicate the company’s strategy, growth opportunities, and business initiatives in a way that creates clarity, consistency and widespread understanding among investors and analysts.  The Head of Investor Relations will be responsible for developing and implementing a successful, strategic, and best-in-class investor relations program for the Company with a focus on building out the global investment community with the goal of increasing shareholder value and positive interest within the investment community. This position requires high energy and a strong work ethic, outstanding communications and interpersonal skills (particularly presentation skills) and a deep knowledge of business and finance.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for maintaining and growing the investor base and generating positive interest with quality new investors that align with the Company’s strategy.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships of trust and respect with analysts and investors. Anticipate and address investor and analyst issues. Develop a proactive investor relations team to build relationships, respond in a timely manner to analysts’ questions, and gain better understanding of top investors’ behaviors.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive corporate investor relations program that enhances The Company’s image and reputation among its constituencies including analysts, shareholders, employees, and investors.
  • Create strategies to attract and retain institutional and individual investors and monitor, measure and report the effectiveness of the program and changes in investor composition.
  • Act as a key corporate spokesperson to the investment community with the role of educating, communicating, and persuading interested parties regarding The Company’s financial performance, industry trends, and positive investment opportunities.
  • Prepare key investment messages and presentations, consistent with the company’s strategy, to communicate financial performance, business conditions, and company strategies to sell-side analysts and institutional investors for related events, including investor days, presentations, video webcasts, conference calls, roadshows, conferences, ship visits, and other industry events
  • Lead the quarterly earnings releases process, including drafting the press release, scripts, Q&As,  and multi-media (presentations, video, infographics).
  • Build an in-depth understanding of the Company’s operations, financials, businesses, accounting, and other key metrics.
  • Monitor and analyze financial market and competitive trends, investor sentiment, and peer company activities to provide insights and recommendations on investor relations strategies.
  • Develop an understanding of the models used by analysts to evaluate company performance and generate periodic reports to management on market and valuation trends. 
  • Stay updated on relevant financial and industry regulations and ensure compliance in all investor-related activities.
  • Maintaining and elevating the Investor Relations website as well as all other forms and mediums of communication
  • Lead and mentor a team of investor relations professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree in finance or business.  MBA from a top program or equivalent relevant business experience preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of business experience in IR or related disciplines of finance, planning, strategy, or research.
  • This individual will have a minimum of five years of IR or Research experience with a peer company, financial services company, or IR consulting firm and will have demonstrated knowledge of investor relations practices and SEC regulations regarding disclosure of corporate information.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, investment analysis, valuation methodologies, and financials models used to value a company’s performance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to distill complex financial information into clear and concise messages for stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities with the capacity to interpret financial data and market trends.   Ability to provide insights that contribute to the company's growth and competitive advantage.
  • Proven interpersonal skills to develop relationships that inspire confidence, trust and respect from internal and external contacts
  • Thorough knowledge of the securities market, SEC disclosures requirements, and accounting policies.
  • Strong understanding of the global financial markets
  • Effective organizational skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Can-do, positive approach and the ability to serve in a highly consultative manner with individuals across a wide variety of disciplines.
  • Superb reputation and credibility with the investor community for gathering industry knowledge to benefit the company’s messaging and strategies
  • Outstanding analytical skills to interpret the financial models used by investment professionals and analysts to value an organization’s performance
  • Experienced in working with a CEO, CFO, and Board of Directors
  • High personal integrity, and strong work ethics
  • Ability to lead a team of associates, if warranted
