POSITION SUMMARY (Position based in Miami, Fl)

Sr. Data Analyst, Fleet Energy Optimization is responsible for supporting analytical activities of Royal Caribbean Group ships with energy optimization initiatives, energy modelling, monitoring, and reporting. Position will support establishment of standardized operational metrics, tracking & reporting of fleetwide energy efficiency and development of BI tools.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support Global Marine Operations in-house BI capabilities by establishing KPIs, creating energy models via statistical and engineering methods. Automating vessel performance monitoring by means of cloud computing, BI tools, and machine learning; in-collaboration with data scientists and marine engineers.
  • Ensure compliance and recording for Energy Management System certification by tracking energy KPI’s and continues follow up with ships and fleet management. 
  • Support identification and reporting of energy efficiency optimization opportunities though operational excellence practices for ship systems such as HVAC, propulsion system, machinery system and hotel.
  • Support hull coating and maintenance strategy to recommend maintenance decisions via propulsion power data analysis and dive inspection reports. Provide analysis results to fleet management and ensure dive and paint report database is up to date. Validate energy efficiency benefits of different hull coating technologies.
  • Assist shipboard officers and engineers in energy performance related issues by means of close dialogue, occasional vessel visits in port and sailing onboard when required.
  • Support technology verification process and business case preparation efforts of multi-million-dollar energy efficiency program via ship technical system data analysis.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent administrative, organizational, interpersonal skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong BI skills with tools such as Power BI/Tableau, Python/R, SQL, Excel. Strong analytics skill set is required for building and maintaining fleet performance models and in-house analytical tools.
  • Experience with Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Matplotlib packages of Python or R equivalents preferred.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a highly analytical program with strong math and science background required. (Computer Science, Marine/Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical/Industrial engineering, or physical/chemical science degrees or similar).
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience as data analyst or in engineering/science field. Equivalent combination of work and education could be considered.

 

Physical Demands:
Desk job with some visits to the ships as required. While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information. The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations, and may lift, push, pull or move 10 - 15 pounds.

 

Work Environment:

Working in a corporate office environment and sometimes onboard the ships for work, as required. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. The environment includes work inside/outside the office.
