Public Relations - Social Media & Content Development Specialist

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Public Relations - Social Media and Content Development Specialist will be a key storyteller, ready to promote Royal Caribbean Group through all forms of digital media, including video (live and pre-produced), audio, photo, social, web, app and written platforms. The successful candidate will produce content that educates and engages all stakeholder audiences, including employees, and will possess excellent writing, content development and social media experience including the design, development and execution of digital communications campaigns and content for both internal and external use. The Public Relations - Social Media and Content Development Specialist helps to execute and implement the company’s corporate social media strategy, responsible for producing and closely monitoring content including articles, videos, photos and other storytelling assets, finding opportunities to amplify these assets. This individual is charged with writing and posting social media messaging; receiving and adapting relevant multimedia assets for use across a variety of digital platforms by partnering with the rest of the Corporate Communications team. You can think of this role as one part storyteller, and one part journalist, who finds the stories that should be told.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Social Media (60%)

  • Collaborate on and execute a comprehensive corporate social media strategy, focusing on both a cohesive overall vision as well as platform- and audience-specific plans.
  • Create and/or plan content for daily social posts to all platforms that engage and grow our audiences, building meaningful connections with followers.
  • Work with the Senior Manager, Social Media & Content Development to ensure social content strategically aligns with communications objectives and resonates with each platform audience authentically, thereby increasing positive sentiment and awareness.
  • Liaise with Marketing Social Care team and brand-specific Social Media teams to monitor social conversations and identify potential threats; assess and analyze the social climate around different issues.
  • Work with the Senior Manager, Social Media & Content Development to help manage an editorial content calendar, including scheduling for social media channels.
  • Coordinate production logistics and assignments for photo needs and other digital media projects in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Maintain constant awareness of key strategic initiatives and how social media can support those initiatives.
  • Continue to monitor, cultivate and build upon RCG’s online social media presence.
  • Liaise with Community Engagement and nonprofit partners on collaborations and other matters concerning social media.
  • In partnership with the Senior Manager, Social Media & Content Development, create a common strategy, language, and set of best practices across RCG and among other individuals charged with maintaining individual channels or private groups.


Content Development and Support (40%) 

  • Create, write and edit compelling corporate storytelling content for internal channels, special projects, website and other efforts.
  • Provide editorial/content support to the ongoing web content management needs, advertising, and other digital content efforts of the team.
  • Participate and contribute to monthly and weekly content planning meetings with relevant partners in the Corporate Communications team.
  • Participate in creative development and brainstorming of visual content.
  • Discover what’s new by meeting with different teams to uncover the stories we should be sharing throughout the company.
  • Helps to edit content to ensure coherence, style, accuracy, grammatical correctness, and adherence to brand and editorial guidelines.
  • Develop editorial playbooks that outline content strategy objectives, editorial approach, messaging, narrative, tone of voice and copywriting guidance.
  • Input on measurement needs and review measurement analyses to identify how content is performing and moving the needle for RCG, and making recommendations on iterations to fine-tune the editorial approach.
  • Work with the Senior Manager, Social Media & Content Development on editorial briefings directly with clients to build the framework of stories we want to tell on social, and lead ongoing story mining to develop content calendars, story trackers and conduct SME interviews, where relevant.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Digital Journalism, Digital Media, Journalism, Communications, English, Public Relations or related field
  • At least 2 years of experience working in social media and/or content development
  • Strong background working in Public Relations
  • Knowledge of and adherence to AP Style
  • Experience working in and with social media platforms.

 

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong storytelling, editing and writing skills across a broad range of formats (social media, blog posts, video, etc.)
  • Great communicator able to simplify the complex and explain difficult content to others.
  • Experience creating content for communications campaigns on major social and digital platforms, including Facebook, Google, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn and ability to translate analytics.
  • Be self-motivated, adaptable, detail oriented, able to handle multiple projects and problem solve.
  • Thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • Experience with content management and social/digital publishing and monitoring platforms such as (but not exclusively) Sprout Social, Hootsuite, Facebook Business Manager, Brandwatch, Adobe Analytics, Google Ads; Office 365 Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud; basic HTML
