Specialist, Public Relations

Position Summary:

The Specialist, Brand Public Relations, is a multi-faceted role within a dynamic brand PR team for the world’s largest cruise line, Royal Caribbean International, working to maintain and underscore favorable awareness and public image for the brand and its experiences. The team member may focus on several professional areas and activities, including written communications, brand communications, public relations, media relations, speechwriting, storytelling, content creation, agency relations, travel coordination and event support and staffing.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

· Supports the development of brand and communication assets for the public relations team.

· Tracks press coverage, writes coverage reports and creates and maintain clips and media lists.

· Coordinates press trip requests (individual and group) including logistics, travel, etc. and liaises with appropriate personnel on requests.

· Assists in coordinating communications programs, which may include promotions, press trips, press conferences, executive briefing, productions.

· Handles incoming media inquiries.

· Project & task coordination and support of the development, tracking/monitoring and reporting of several small- to medium-size projects and tasks from inception to completion, ensuring on-time delivery of requested outputs.

· Organizes and maintains project schedules as related to meetings, events, etc. Maintains and updates project tools and reports (e.g. spreadsheets, project plans, action logs, reports, etc.)

· Assists in updating and maintaining the company’s online press center and creation of related content.

· Assists in executing strategies to secure impactful media coverage for Royal Caribbean International, subject matter experts, products & services, and events, including pitching and engaging reporters, facilitating media interviews and support for executives.

· Fosters productive professional relationships with internal stakeholders to collaborate on opportunities that support company initiatives.

· Builds and maintains key professional relationships with media outlets.

· Stay abreast of the latest developments, trends and shifts in travel, the cruise industry and content.

· Occasional travel.

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

· Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent, related experience preferred

· 1-2 years of PR agency, public relations, journalism or corporate communications experience.

· Skilled in writing and crafting communications for public relations purposes (press releases, etc.). Story narrative, editorial content and message creation experience is a plus.

· Strong planning capabilities to identify and prioritize communication strategies and activities as well as to meet the deadlines required to support communications and business needs

· Excellent research, verbal and presentation skills

· Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to work in fast-paced, high-volume environment

· Goal-oriented and action-focused, practical, and self-disciplined

· Ability to assist in coordinating projects and participate in cross-functional teams

· Works pro-actively; effortlessly organized self-motivator

· Excellent relationship builder – ability to create, foster and leverage relationships to achieve outstanding results.

· Ability to evaluate and provide constructive feedback in a timely manner

· Demonstrate the ability to quickly analyze situations and alternatives and make prudent decisions.

· Finger on the pulse – up to date with trends, both inside and outside the cruise industry

· Outstanding English language proficiency. Proficiency in Spanish desirable.
