Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager, Activities & Youth Programming for Celebrity Cruises, the Senior Specialist, Youth & Family Programming is responsible for supporting, advancing and executing the strategic vision and direction of the Camp at Sea programming and Family Programming experience. This position supervises and provides direction, guidance and development for the fleet of shipboard Youth Program Managers and Youth Counsellors. Under guidance of the Manager, Activities & Youth programming, assists in the creation, development process and execution of new Youth, Teen and Family Entertainment experiences and programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervises and schedules roster of Youth Program Managers (YPM) in liaising with scheduling team to ensure par levels are maintained throughout Celebrity Cruises fleet.
- Manages updates to SOP documents for all shipboard Youth, Teen and Family Operations to provide shipboard executional direction and support fleet wide consistency in programming.
- Responsible for updating any policies and procedures regarding legal, security and sanitation protocols as per SQM guidelines and USPH standards.
- Is the principal owner of any guest escalation issues, programming opportunities, staffing issues, safety and security issues, questions and/or exceptions regarding policies and procedures within the area of Youth, Teen and Family Programming.
- Collaborates with the Manager Activities & Youth Operations to Forecast operating and capital budgets for Youth Operations supplies, hardware/physical space enhancements, newbuild and refurbishment projects.
- Tracks expenses and prepares financial analysis to support decision-making tied to Youth Programs (Inventory, supplies, etc.).
- Makes recommendations for improvements to product delivery based off shipboard and guest feedback/sentiment, NPS ratings, budget costs and overall efficiency.
- Creates presentations that visualize current or proposed future programming to present to multiple levels of leadership.
- Manages relationships with existing partnerships and develops ideas for partnership expansion for Youth, Teen and Family programming.
- Conducts research for potential vendors to support enhancements and optimization of Youth, Teen and Family programs.
- Collaborates with the Entertainment team, Product Development and Product Strategy to bring new experiences from ideation to deployment onboard Celebrity Cruises Fleet.
- Conducts routine ship visits to audit, coach, listen and collaborate with shipboard teams. Continuously monitors and adjusts to ensure fleet wide consistencies across programs.
- Collaborates with Marketing and PR to create correct messaging and stories and maintaining updates to websites, sales collateral and promotional materials.
Qualifications and Education
- 3 to 5 years of experience with Youth or Youth-centered operations and programming preferably in cruise line industry.
- Direct experience developing and delivering youth, teen and family programming.
- Excellent communication & administrative skills, highly organized & efficient work ethic is a must.
- Must have good problem-solving skills and ability to manage last minute emergencies in a calm and organized manner.
- Certification in areas such as, CPR, First Aid, AED and Special Needs training.
- Excellent written communication and presentation skills
- Organizational skills, ability to set priorities and meet challenging deadlines
- Strong budget forecasting, tracking and management skills
- Self-directed individual with initiative, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Interpersonal skills, ability to give and receive constructive feedback
- Flexibility, team orientation, ability and willingness to learn
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at one time
- May be required to travel internationally approximately 30% of work-related time.
- This individual will work approximately 70% of the work time at Celebrity Cruises Miami offices
Financial/Quantitative Responsibilities
- Ability to forecast and track Opex and capital spend.
- Manage C&R budget for Youth and Teens
