Senior Specialist, Community Events

Reporting to the Manager of Community Engagement, this position will play a key role in supporting the execution of community outreach and engagement globally through strategic events in key destinations. The Senior Specialist will support the creation and management of company-sponsored activities and programs ensuring that Royal Caribbean Group is visible in the community. The role requires effectively managing organizational and community relationships and engaging our external stakeholders. Seasoned event specialist with keen attention to detail, resourcefulness, and a desire to facilitate connections are critical to this role. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage various community engagement events that support our community outreach strategy
    • Oversee event logistics for global Community Engagement events
    • Support of global community engagement activations
    • Plan and coordinate the execution of ship tours and educational ship programs
    • Support charitable events for inaugural sailings
    • Main point of contact for questions and support regarding community ship tour inquiries for internal and external stakeholders
    • Main point of contact for questions and support regarding registration of educational immersion ship program inquiries for internal and external stakeholders
    • Collaborate with key internal departments and liaise with external stakeholders for logistical planning
    • Create invitations for community events
    • Build and maintain tool for collection of event activities, progress, status, and post-event summary
    • Lead meetings to brief internal stakeholder owners on event planning, logistics and execution
    • Complete a shipboard function form for all ship tours to communicate your exact tour needs to key supporting shipboard departments.
    • Prepare ship tour handover packet for Corporate Affairs representative to ensure they have the necessary details to execute the day of the event 
    • Assist with updating ship tour SOPs as needed
  • Manage grant and cruise requests, ensuring they align with our charitable giving strategy, supporting Corporate Affairs and Destination Development.

 

Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills:

 

  • An undergraduate degree is required
  • 2-3 years of non-profit event and grant-making experience required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Demonstrate initiative to contribute to the success of the team and organization
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a diverse type of people
  • Experience in planning and implementing special events with attention to details  
  • Ability to work well under pressure and maintain confidential information
  • Experience with executing against project deadlines and achieve results within budget
  • Demonstrate collaboration with various internal stakeholders and external organizations
  • Strong initiative and customer service orientation
  • Excellent organizational, project management, and time management skills and ability to cope with limited resources and think creatively
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically in Excel (CVS files), PowerPoint, and Forms
  • Grant-making software experience is preferred
  • Bi-lingual: preferred but not required
