The Royal Caribbean Group’s Newbuild Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Manager, Project Development to the Director, Newbuild Project Development role.
The position is onsite and based in Miami, Florida.
The position is also not eligible for work authorization sponsorship.
Position Summary:
The Sr. Manager, Project Development provides the primary development support, engineering expertise, coordination and management to the new buildings department covering Fleet Modernization projects undertaken by the department. The incumbent will assist in the development of projects, defining the scope of works, schedules of values and budget definition in conjunction with the design department and other functionaries within the project group. They will take part in vendor negotiations, vendor selection and continuously manage all communications and correspondence between the relevant parties, both internally and externally. Will oversee the execution of projects and will be responsible for compliance of all rules and regulations as applicable.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Directs outfit applications and new developments with the team(s).
- Oversee the development of various fleet modernization projects.
- Manages a manager of Newbuild outfit projects that assists with the development of projects.
- In partnership with Supply Chain, participate in vendor negotiations, vendor selection and continuously manage all communications and correspondence between the relevant parties, both internally and externally.
- Together with Project Planner, creates project plans and enforces the deadlines. Updates them in line with the relevant schedules and effectively communicates changes to all parties involved in the project.
- Responsible for the budgeting and analysis of Projects, Revitalization and New Buildings in relation to this discipline.
- Coordinates the technical and administrative aspects with the senior superintendents and/or consultants in his group relevant to the project requirements. Uses his technical abilities and people skills to motivate, encourage and advise group members to achieve optimum results.
- Is responsible for the budget aspect of any project in relation to his discipline and assists in budgeting and analysis of Projects, Revitalization and New Buildings
- Coordinates the timely return of drawings from contractors for approval and the coordination with all members in the matrix management.
- Maintains project lists and updates them in line with the relevant schedules.
- Reports directly to the Director Development, Fleet Design & Newbuilding.
- Coordinates outfit applications and new developments with the team(s).
- Ensures that all outfit equipment ordered for installation is appropriate, cost effective and in accordance with applicable industry codes.
- Stay current on relevant technical research and projects; seek information and evaluate new technology for use on board, and run test programs on such equipment together with manufacturing company and RCCL teams.
- Manage and coordinate at a high level, all general procedures and regulatory classification and safety issues between new building office(s) and classification and regulatory societies in relation to outfit areas.
- Analyze the management of document methods in order to improve workflow, simplifying reporting procedures, or implement cost reductions.
- Prepare composite reports from individual reports of team members. Prepares management presentations and collects data to do so.
- Travel, as and when required, to support project development, vendor visits to vessels and site teams at locations shortly before and during all projects.

Qualifications and Education
- 10+ years of experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree required with a concentration in Architecture or Engineering preferred.
- Proven experience in project management within maritime, shipbuilding, or fleet modernization environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive operational excellence.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Must be familiar with the working drawing process inclusive of drawing, dimensioning and detailing floor plans, elevations, sections and details.
- Ability to understand and interpret architectural plans, sections, elevations, and details.
- Strong interpersonal skills absolutely required, as well as the ability to be a strong team player.
- Working knowledge of Windows NT, Microsoft Word, Excel and familiarity with Autocad system. Internet and e-mail literate with ability to send, receive and attach files as required. Must be proactive, organized and have the ability to take initiative, be multi-faceted.
- Will be required to use and develop project specific software for project development, management and tracking.

- A high noise level is possible if visiting shipboard, dry dock, newbuilding, or offsite locations.
- Personal protective equipment needed for shipyard visits.
- 30% travel is required.
