The Royal Caribbean Group’s Engineering Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Senior Manager, Engineering - RoyalX reporting to the Director, Product Engineering.

 

The position is onsite and based in Miami, Florida.

 

The position is also not eligible for work authorization sponsorship.

 

Position Summary:


The Senior Manager, Engineering – RoyalX oversees the full life cycle of RCG Digital’s reservation system transformation, including solution architecture, design, development, integration, and performance testing. This role provides leadership and direction to multiple lead engineers, collaborating with key stakeholders and program leadership to execute and deliver objectives at critical milestones. The Senior Manager drives technical excellence, ensures quality and stability, and fosters a culture of innovation within the engineering organization.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Leads engineering delivery of major enhancements to digital products supporting the new reservation system, a multi-year, strategic initiative.
  • Drives technical execution, ensuring all deliverables meet quality, stability, and performance expectations.
  • Directly supervises Lead Engineers responsible for major digital uplift areas such as Commerce, Guest Account, and Guest Check-in.
  • Develops, mentors, and manages multiple Software Engineering teams, both directly and through team leaders.
  • Collaborates with external partners and vendors to deliver key milestones on schedule and at the expected level of quality.
  • Manages deliverables across internal and vendor teams to ensure alignment with program goals.
  • Oversees technical development processes across multiple engineering disciplines, technologies, and product lines.
  • Leads adoption of advanced software development technologies, including AI-assisted engineering, to drive efficiency throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Establishes and enforces best practices for architecture, build processes, automated testing, code quality, and performance standards.
  • Ensures adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements across all digital applications.
  • Partners with Platform & Operations teams to ensure system reliability, scalability, and adherence to SLAs.
  • Proactively addresses performance issues and plans for future capacity and resilience needs.
  • Fosters a high-performing culture built on creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, and engineering excellence.
  • Continuously raises the bar for quality, technical leadership, and delivery efficiency across the organization.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field required.

 

Experience

  • Proven experience in engineering leadership, preferably in digital transformation or large-scale system implementations.
  • Experience managing multiple engineering teams and collaborating with external partners and vendors.

 

Technical/Functional Skills

  • Deep knowledge of computer science or engineering technical concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to implement technical solutions.
  • Expertise in software development methodologies, tools, best practices, and processes.
  • Demonstrated creativity, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, guiding junior staff as necessary.

 

Leadership/Behavioral Competencies

  • Proven ability to collaborate with technical peers and stakeholders.Strong leadership, mentoring, and people management skills.
