Senior Copywriter

POSITION SUMMARY / JOB PURPOSE:

 

Responsible for devising, writing, proofing and pitching copy from conception to completion in various medias such as online, print & newspaper. Drives the evolution and consistent application of brand tone and personality. This role reduces our dependency on external agencies and assists the Lead role in providing guidance to Copywriters on the team as needed. Will internalize the essence of vital brand specifications for each project, own work for a variety of partner areas as assigned, and provide highly accurate and quality work by the required deadlines. Works closely with Sales & Marketing Account Executives and Graphic Designers for project completion.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with key stakeholders in client areas to devise and drive business strategies through creative work.
  • Assist the Lead role in maintaining creative consistency across all media channels as needed.
  • Concept and write ads, flyers, direct mail, and other forms of print collateral, as well as digital media, including web banners and email, special projects, and other materials for consumer and trade media.
  • Partner with other department creatives to create and present conceptual options to deliver on strategic and business needs.
  • Drive brand consistency through ongoing implementation of brand guidelines for copy.
  • Ensure timely completion of projects while collaborately with the design team.
  • Review final work for quality assurance before submitted for approval to Copy Manager.
  • Ensure all copy follows legal guidance, including laws governing registered and trademarked symbols, country of origin, offer communications, etc.
  • Timely review of all Creative work to be presented for review and approval.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of BA in English, Journalism, Advertising, Marketing or related field.
  • 5-7 years writing experience in advertising or related field.

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Knowledge of English grammar and punctuation.
  • Meticulous attention to detail; clear and concise communication, commitment to producing quality product; deadline driven.
  • Familiarity with print & online media. Proficiency in presenting work.
  • Knowledge of web writing and SEO best practices a plus.
  • Software experience in Mac applications, including Word and PowerPoint.
  • Working knowledge of visual design programs such as inDesign considered a plus.
