Manager, Platform Engineering

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

A Manager of Digital Engineering is responsible for overseeing the full life cycle of software applications including solution architecture, design, development, integration and performance testing, and maintenance. Additionally, the Manager is responsible for customer satisfaction for at least one of the critical business systems managed by Digital Engineering. In conjunction with the Digital Product and Digital Delivery teams, the Manager will establish and execute the software application strategy for RCG’s Digital department.

 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hires, trains, mentors, and manages at least one Software Engineering team. Hires or contracts talent based on demand driven by Digital Engineering leadership team.
  • Manages technical software development processes across more than one application development discipline for software technology product lines.
  • Establishes and ensures best practices for the software development lifecycle including solution architecture, build, and test.
  • Ensures that systems are stable and performing per SLAs, in collaboration with Platform & Operations
  • Works collaboratively with Scrum and Release Managers to ensure on-time, on schedule delivery of projects.
  • Ensures that appropriate quality processes are in place to deliver high quality applications, in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Manages the sourcing of technical resources, leveraging off-site/offshore resources where appropriate.
  • Fosters a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, and excellence while continuously elevating the quality and caliber of our product development organization.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years hands-on experience with at least 2 years of experience in a leadership role
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud-based SaaS applications
  • Solid experience with source control (Git, GitHub), Developer tools (Jenkins, SonarQube, Nexus, ArgoCD, Harbor) and Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence)
  • Experience with CI/CD, CloudFormation, IAM, CloudWatch, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Istio, Apigee, Kafka, S3, Minio, Redis, MySQL, Couchbase
  • Experience working with alerting and monitoring tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics, Prometheus, Grafana etc.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and mentor and coach others on a team

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • The position will require occasional travel onboard our vessels and to other locations, domestic and international.
