Mgr, Facility



Position Summary:

This position is responsible for managing a corporate headquarters facility; its operations and activities to ensure reliable, cost-competitive services, as well as a safe and comfortable environment, ensuring compliance with legal/environmental regulations. The facility is a multi-building campus of approximately 350,000 square feet, housing 2000+ employees on 40 acres. The position reports to the Sr. Facility Manager.  This position is supported by a Technical/Safety Manager, Real-Estate Space Planning Manager, and a Financial Analyst who assists with all properties. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•    Oversees and responsible for all furniture installations and repairs
•    Assist with space utilization studies to determine the future use and availability of office space
•    Manages furniture inventory and asset management tracking system
•    Oversees maintenance and repairs
•    Oversees the maintenance with the landlord and maintenance vendors
•    Manages major repairs and coordinates work with landlord and Technical/ Safety Manager
•    Manages out-sourced janitorial and carpet cleaning vendors
•    Manages established corporate emergency action plan including annual drills and staff training
•    Manages established recycling program; audit and expand program to support corporate environmental policy
•    Manages and ensures compliance of established corporate ergonomics standards 
•    Assists Purchasing department in bidding, negotiating and establishing vendor contracts for out-sourced services

Financial Responsibilities:

•    Assist the Financial Analyst with the development of annual operating and capital budgets; annual operating budget is approximately $12M
•    Purchase all goods and services related to these properties
•    Review and approve all invoices related to these properties


•    BS/BA degree in Business, Facilities Management or related field preferred and 8+ years of related experience
•    Experience assisting staff responsible for space planning, maintenance, switchboard and out-sourced janitorial nd food-service staff preferred

Knowledge and Skills:

Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Must be able to transmit ideas and information in written and oral forms in a clear, concise and effective manner.  Strong interpersonal skills are a must as well as the ability to deal with customers in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to effectively prioritize workload, manage multiple tasks concurrently and pay meticulous attention to detail.  Strong analytical skills, problem solving ability and coordination of complex projects are essential.
Ability to deliver outstanding customer service to all employees including effective and timely responses to employee requests. Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate people to action

Physical Demands:

•    The physical demands described here are representative of those requirements employees must meet to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations.  While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, and stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information.  The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations and may lift, push, pull or move 10-15 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to walk to the dock, ascend and descend the vessel. This position may regularly travel domestically or internationally. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
