The Royal Caribbean Group has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager of Sustainability Planning and Analysis reporting to the Director of Finance Fuel.

 

This position works on-site in Miami, Florida.

 

Position Summary:

The Manager of Sustainability Planning & Analysis is a key contributor to RCG’s Environmental & Corporate Decarbonization Strategy from an Energy perspective and is responsible for modeling and forecasting EU carbon tax, shore power accounts, carbon emissions calculations, and achievement of operational excellence initiatives.

 

As a member of the Energy Planning & Analysis team, this candidate will apply analytical and data-driven techniques to measure and forecast the Corporation’s Decarbonization Strategy with all the levers and key stakeholders as well as track and report on variances to upper-Management. They will oversee the financial month-end closing duties and provide strategic analysis on corporate initiatives. With additional focus on the regulations, they will also lead updates on Global Emissions Compliance and Greenhouse Emissions Objectives & Targets.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Decarb Responsibilities

  • Be a subject matter expert in Decarb regulations play a key role in the planning, implementation, and evolution of the emissions reduction roadmap.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with leadership (Directors through VPs) of Global Marine Ops, Brand Leadership, Decarbonization Strategy, ESG & Environmental Teams, Shipboard Teams, Accounting, Deployment, and Revenue Management.
  • Support Decarbonization Strategy and the decarb model with relevant inputs and strategic analysis.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Stewardship and ESG groups on Corporate Decarbonization Strategy communications, reporting, and target-setting.
  • Own the tracking of performance of Decarbonization levers to meet the Group’s emissions reduction targets and compliance needs.
  • Collaborate with Environmental Stewardship and ESG groups on Greenhouse Gas Emissions reporting and Global Emissions Compliance.
  • Own the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) forecasting, actual performance, and variance tracking process for RCI, CEL and SSC. 
  • Optimize CII Dashboard for performance tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Owns EU Carbon tax forecasting, planning, long range model and variance tracking as well as working closely with environmental stewardship, revenue, and Tax groups on any information required related to tax credits, exposure, and compliance.
  • Enhance existing tools for EU Carbon Tax reporting and compliance with in-house developers.
  • Owns shore power forecasting, planning, long-range model and variance tracking as well as working closely with marine operations, port ops, deployment, and environmental stewardship teams.
  • Provide Environmental Stewardship group all fuel and shore power inputs for the Yearly CDP Reporting to DNV.
  • Present and communicate to executive audiences.
  • Perform frequent Ad Hoc Analysis / Updates as requested by Upper Management.

 

Financial Responsibilities

  • Owning the EU Carbon Tax model and Shore Power G/L accounts which will grow rapidly year-over-year and their respective forecasting, planning, and quarterly long-range updates, and executive-level analysis for Controller, CFO, and EVP of GMO monthly meetings.
  • Supporting the Decarbonization Strategy and assisting with costs for levers in Corporate Decarbonization Financial Updates.
  • Own model buildouts and process implementation for upcoming regulation changes including tool modifications and alignment with accounting and corporate planning teams for new methodology
  • Managing a budget of $50M in 2025 that will double by 2027 and grow to over 6x by 2029.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multi-function working teams
  • Strong Excel skills required. Strong analytics skill set is required for building and maintaining financial models. Power BI skills are a plus.
  • Need to possess long-term financial modeling and project/program management skills.
  • Must be well organized, pay close attention to detail, possess strong planning, and time management skills and demonstrate the proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and assign tasks as needed to perform successfully.
  • Excellent critical thinking, verbal, and written communications skills, with strong confidence in communicating with senior managers and executives.
  • Highly motivated, curious, collaborative, and innovative.
  • Ability to display data visually, creating powerful presentations which effectively quantify and justify value created to both analytical and non-analytical audiences.
  • Mentor junior team leaders and help to improve processes across the team.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Finance / Engineering / Business or other highly analytical field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Post graduate degree a plus. 
  • 8-10 years of experience in finance and/or engineering positions, within marine or travel industry is preferred. 
  • Proficient use of MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word). 
  • Previous program management experience is a plus.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information. The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations and may lift, push, pull or move 10 - 15 pounds. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
