The Royal Caribbean Group’s Health Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Manager, Nursing Operations reporting to the AVP, Clinical Operations.

 

The position is onsite and based in Miami, Florida.

 

Position Summary: 

 

The Manager, Nursing Operations will provide administrative, clinical, and training structure and support to shipboard medical teams; ensure compliance with corporate medical policies; and assist in developing and implementing a comprehensive clinical training program for clinical staff, with particular emphasis on the nursing staff. This role is also required to participate in the development and implementation of clinical team strategy across all brands within the Fleet.  Accountable for development of goals, objectives, policies and priorities necessary to deliver results against targets and KPI’s. 

 

Support training of the shipboard clinical staff, with particular focus on nursing staff and particularly in the fields of emergency response; first responder, acute, and intensive care; wellness, chronic disease management; clinical assessment; and clinical documentation, among other areas.  

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the ongoing management of clinical operations onboard, such as medication, equipment and inventory management, staffing, and other operational needs as determined necessary.  
  • Coordinate with Public Health to ensure the RCG Outbreak Prevention Plan (OPP) and other public health requirements and responsibilities are effectively developed, and/or implemented and are compliant with current requirements.  
  • Collaborate with relevant stakeholders in developing and implementing a comprehensive clinical training & education program that supports shipboard clinical staff and improves shipboard medical and nursing care.  
  • Collaborate with Senior Manager for Clinical Quality and Quality Assurance Lead to design and implement a fleetwide ship audit program to assure compliance with all applicable corporate policies, clinical documentation standards, technical equipment maintenance/monitoring, and regulatory requirements.  
  • Monitor and review fleetwide clinical team compliance with various U.S., international, and global statutory requirements in the maritime industry.  
  • Audit vessels regarding medical equipment inventory policies and requirements per manufacturer instructions for safe and effective use.  
  • Serve as Health team lead, in collaboration with RCG Health VP, Medical Admin. & Ops, on the design and outfitting of medical facilities in new builds and acquisitions.  
  • Support Human Resources Department in identifying, recruiting, vetting and hiring of professional nurses for shipboard clinical teams.  
  • Develop professional nursing practice standards for all shipboard nurses for further fleetwide implementation with support from key stakeholders.  
  • Provide managerial and professional clinical supervision to all shipboard nurses and guide in professional development.

Basic Experience and Qualifications:

 

  • Registered Nurse with at least 7 years of critical care or emergency department experience ( captured under preferred skills) 
  • Strong spoken and written English skills: must be able to analyze data and create detailed reports.  
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, Public Health, Biological Science or related field.  
  • Strong knowledge of Public Health regulations and practices.  
  • Extensive experience in clinical nursing practice standards, protocols, training, and education.  
  • Experience creating and implementing policies and procedures related to infectious disease prevention and management, occupational health and safety, and nursing practice  
  • ACLS/BLS/PALS instructor certification or eligibility.

 

 

Preferred Experience and Qualifications:

 

  • Shipboard or cruise industry experience  
  • Master’s degree in nursing, Public Health, Biological Science or related field  
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with relevant WHO and CDC guidelines Prior experience in disaster planning, response, and mitigation
