Royal Caribbean Group’s Global Marine Operations Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager, Nautical and Emergency Management Training reporting to the Director, Marine Training.

This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida. No immigration sponsorship offered.

 

Position Summary:

The Manager, Nautical and Emergency Management Training is responsible for the strategic development, planning, and execution of maritime training programs focused on nautical operations and emergency preparedness. This role ensures compliance with international maritime regulations and drives a proactive safety culture across the fleet.

The position requires expert-level knowledge of STCW, SOLAS, the IGF Code, and other IMO conventions. Based in Miami, this role collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of training programs in nautical operations and emergency management.
  • Ensure training programs comply with STCW, SOLAS, IGF Code, and other applicable IMO regulations.
  • Drive a culture of proactive safety through training initiatives and leadership engagement.
  • Oversee nautical training programs including Bridge Resource Management (BRM), ship handling, polar operations, expedition and zodiac operations, tender operations, and nautical familiarization.
  • Manage the design and delivery of emergency management training, including Basic Safety, shipboard familiarization, emergency duties, and station bill procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Evacuation & Emergency Management and Manager of Navigational Safety to align training content and delivery.
  • Supervise the traveling navigation training program and coordinate closely with traveling fleet safety officers.
  • Support the development of on-the-job (OTJ) training and nautical assessment programs.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure consistency and effectiveness of training across brands and fleets.
  • Support the financial planning and oversight of training-related resources.

 

  • Develop business cases and financial impact analysis for new training initiatives.

 

  • Monitor training program costs and identify opportunities for efficiency and value optimization.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in maritime studies, marine engineering, or a related field.
  • Unlimited Master License or equivalent maritime certification strongly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of STCW, SOLAS, IGF Code, and other IMO conventions.
  • Experience in developing and delivering maritime training programs.
  • Strong understanding of nautical operations and emergency preparedness.
  • Proven ability to represent an organization in industry forums and regulatory discussions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Experience working in a global, matrixed maritime environment.
  • Expert-level understanding of international maritime regulations and safety standards.

 

  • Familiarity with BRM, ship handling, polar navigation, and expedition operations.

 

  • Knowledge of emergency management training frameworks and best practices.

 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

 

  • Financial acumen and experience in budget planning and cost analysis.

 

  • Proficiency in project management and business process optimization.

 

  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and training management systems.
