Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises Hotel Operations team has an exciting career opportunity for a full- Manager of Housekeeping reporting to the VP, Hotel Operations Celebrity Cruises.

 

Position Summary  

The Shoreside Manager of Housekeeping will be responsible for ensuring uniformity and effectiveness in the Housekeeping Accommodation Operations across the entire Celebrity Cruises fleet. This role involves assisting in the development and implementation of strategies aimed at maximizing Guest and Crew Satisfaction, as well as ancillary revenues, while focusing on efficient stateroom accommodation practices. Additionally, this position will prioritize linen and terry inventory management, budget controls, work processes, and workplace safety. The individual will act as a subject matter expert in Housekeeping Outbreak Prevention, providing guidance and support to ships experiencing outbreaks of gastrointestinal illnesses and COVID-19. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This position will primarily focus on corporate responsibilities (85-90%), with the remaining time allocated to fleet engagement through virtual meetings, ship visits, and similar activities. The role supports the development and management of all accommodation product definitions (both domestic and international) in alignment with the company's goals, objectives, and vision.

  • Provides assistance, support, and guidance to shipboard teams in areas such as linen and terry inventory management, chemical usage, accommodation financial budget tracking, housekeeping accountability tools, accommodation inspection programs, and stateroom attendant section development and maintenance.
  • Establishes policies, procedures, and training programs for the Housekeeping Accommodation Operations tailored for Stateroom Attendants, Supervisors, and Managers.
  • Manages the CAR account for fleet mattress replacements for both crew and guest accommodations.
  • Regularly updates the VP of Hotel Operations, Fleet Executive Housekeepers, and Fleet Laundry Manager regarding the Housekeeping Accommodation Operations.
  • Develops, manages, and oversees the Fleet-wide Stateroom Attendant Section processes for both new builds and existing ships.
  • Researches and introduces new equipment and cleaning processes.
  • Establishes and monitors chemical par levels and consumption for housekeeping accommodations on each vessel.
  • Develops, documents, and manages accommodation cleaning procedures in SQM.
  • Creates, documents, and manages accommodation SOPs in the Home-Port Housekeeping Operations SharePoint platform.
  • Supports and oversees Housekeeping Traveling Positions.
  • Manages vendor shipboard access processes.
  • Monitors workplace safety for the Accommodation Team and generates action plans or ideas for improvement.
  • Tracks SRA Service, SR Cleanliness, Suite Service, and Suite cleanliness ratings across the fleet, highlighting variances from targets and monitoring action plans created by shipboard teams and their respective Fleet Executive Housekeepers.
  • Manages the hiring processes for entry-level management positions within Housekeeping.
  • Ensures the Accommodation Training Program remains current and recommends and develops updates as necessary.
  • Consults, advice, and collaboration with Project Managers and Housekeeping Operations Management on strategies to enhance efficiencies, improve operational capabilities, and implement accommodation-related initiatives.
  • Identifies potential areas for improvement and cost savings in close collaboration with Fleet Executive Housekeepers and the Fleet Laundry Manager, focusing on the efficiency and effectiveness of chemicals, equipment, and procedures to meet and exceed cleanliness and service standards across the fleet.

Qualifications    

  • 5 - 7 years relevant & equivalent Operational Management in a luxury hotel, or onboard a premium cruise ship is preferred.      
  • A degree from a college or university in Hospitality Management or related field.       
  • Solid, clear, and precise written & verbal communication skills at all levels of the organization are essential.      
  • Fluent English language written and verbal skills are necessary.    
  • Must possess sound knowledge and have attended mandatory Vessel Sanitation Program (VSP) training.       
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time both international and domestic.     

Knowledge and Skills  

  • Knowledge of chemicals, proper cleaning techniques, requirements, handling and use of equipment. Ability to evaluate a situation quickly and determine the proper procedures to avoid potential problems.       
  • Possesses working knowledge of AMOS, Internet, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, MS Outlook or related programs, and the ability to navigate within these software packages to provide detailed and quality reports to shore side management.       
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships amongst various groups of individuals, across a multi-cultural departmental environment.       
  • Possess solid planning skills and the ability to teach, council and train staff.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.        
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical specifications, financial reports, legal documentation, and government regulations (USPH / SHIPSAN).      
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities.       
  • Ability to read and write English to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, co-workers, and shipboard employees.   

Financial Responsibilities

This position assists with tracking financial expenditure and highlighting over & under spending to the VP of Hotel Operations. This position also assists with establishing & tracking Capital Expenditure Projects, as well as invoice coding and invoice approval.  

 

Physical Requirement

The physical demands described here are representative of those requirements employees must meet to perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. While performing job functions the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, write, review and type reports, compile data, operate a pc, communicate, listen, and assess information. The employee may move about the office complex, may travel to other office locations and may lift, push, pull or move 10 - 15 pounds. Visual requirements include distant, close and color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
