The Royal Caribbean Group’s Corporate Tax Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager, Global Tax Operations reporting to the Sr. Director, Tax Strategy.

 

This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida

 

Position Summary:

 

Responsible for supporting the Director of Global Tax Operations and Senior Director, Global Tax Strategy, primarily implementing the new global minimum tax (i.e., Pillar Two) compliance, including tax planning, minimization of tax risk globally, select forecasting and variance analysis, and audit examinations by taxing authorities.  This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, the ability to collaborate across various departments effectively, internal, and external stakeholders and cultures (given the global nature of the role), and the ability to communicate complex tax rules to business partners/stakeholders simply and concisely. This position must work closely with the Global Tax Strategy and Operations teams to ensure global compliance with Pillar Two and other taxes are appropriately considered in tax returns and provisions. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Research the impact of global tax reforms primarily implementing Pillar Two provisions and consequences in RCG structure.

 

  • Support Director and Managers of Global Tax Operations in overseeing global tax compliance, provision, forecasting, and variance analysis related to Pillar Two and other regular taxation in the US and International regions.

 

  • Support Director, Global Tax Operations, collaborating with international finance teams to ensure the timely and accurate filing of foreign tax returns, including tie-out of tax returns and adherence to Company Global Tax Compliance Protocols.

 

  • Support Director, Global Tax Operations in the preparation and/or review of quarterly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned companies/accounts on a quarterly basis. This includes reviewing and/or creating adequate supporting documentation and presentation to the SVP and Chief Accounting Officer on a quarterly basis.  Where International Finance Teams prepare reconciliations, the tax department must still demonstrate ownership of accounts. 

 

  • Preparation or/review of monthly and quarterly tax provision workpapers and journal entries.

 

  • Support the Director, Global Tax Operations, in reviewing statutory accounts as relevant to tax, including reviewing and tying out the income tax footnote.

 

  • Support the Director of Global Tax Operations in liaising with outside tax counsel and assists in coordinating projects for which such individuals are engaged, including tax return preparers.

 

  • Support the Director Global Tax Operations or Global Tax Strategy in consulting regularly with internal departments such as international finance, legal, accounting, commercial development and foreign offices on transactions, contracts, business arrangements, etc.

 

  • Support the Director of Tax Strategy in maintaining and supporting documentation or data necessary for global tax audits.

 

  • Team with Tax Strategy team to ensure tax positions or new business initiatives / structures are correctly reported on timely filed tax returns and income tax provisions.

 

  • Enable and monitor compliance with key tax strategies implemented. 

 

  • Perform research with respect to tax notices, law changes, or business initiatives as needed.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/business and Master’s Degree in Taxation or Juris Doctorate [JD] with specialization in International Tax preferred.

       

  • Minimum five years at a national or international public accounting firm or law firm or 5 – 8 years in a large in-house corporate tax department preferred.

 

  • Certified Public Accountant,  JD required or Tax  Specialization preferred. 

 

  • Strong analytical and reasoning skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to make decisions and assess acceptable levels of business risk.

 

  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, simplifying technical tax jargon.

 

  • Ability to analyze and interpret general tax periodicals, professional tax journals, and foreign countries' tax laws, and regulations. 

 

  • Ability to write technical tax memos and business correspondence.

 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint,  Tax Research Tools (CCI, RIA Checkpoint, Lexis Nexus, IBFD).

 

  • Experience with tools such as JDE, EPM, Hyperion, Oracle a strong plus.

 

  • Familiarity with RPA tools such as Alteryx, Blue Prism and data visualization tools such as PowerBI, Tableu a strong plus.
