The Royal Caribbean Group’s Revenue Management Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager, Deployment Systems and Analytics reporting to the Sr. Manager, Revenue Management Operations Research.

 

This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida

 

Position Summary:

 

The Deployment Analytics team is responsible for all data, decision tools, reporting and information needs for the Deployment team.  The Manager leads a professional staff in the development and implementation of deployment analytical models and tools, quantitative analysis, and optimization.  Proactively identifies opportunities for applying quantitative analysis in a business environment.  Directs development of new models, as well as improvements to our current models, to analyze and predict patterns and behavior related to deployment optimization, fuel savings, customer satisfaction, and other business characteristics.  Interprets and presents results in a business format to the department and executives to assist in decision making and analysis.  Consults with internal clients to understand business needs, changing strategies and developments to improve effectiveness, validate and measure results and improve efficiencies.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the deployment analytics team responsible for desisting tools to assist Deployment team in optimizing itineraries for the Royal, Celebrity, and Silversea brands, which reach over 400 ports annually and are responsible for over $10B in annual revenue. 
  • Manage the implementation and support for deployment systems, forecasts, models, and user tools.  Successfully apply quantitative methods and techniques, including forecasting, linear regressions, mixed integer programming, machine learning and artificial intelligence, optimization, and statistical analyses.  Ensure tool development combines mathematical and business knowledge and analyses, delivering results in a business-user format. 
  • Apply operations research and other advanced quantitative methodologies to develop models to maximize net itinerary yields. These methodologies would include forecasting, machine learning, AI, statistics, econometric modeling, linear programming, and other optimization algorithms.
  • Position team and reporting to anticipate business changes, guiding departments to changes in processes and decision making by coordinating new tools and adaptations of existing tools for tomorrow’s business. Regularly interact with all teams to gather feedback, understand decision processes, and identify opportunities for improvement.  Initiate projects to develop business improvement, revenue opportunities and efficiency gains, rolling out new tools and modifications directly to the teams and users.
  • Provide consulting expertise and work closely with Deployment operational staff to understand underlying business needs, changing patterns and market conditions.  Develop practical, applicable solutions that can be implemented to drive revenue and reduce costs.  Provide analytical and modeling support to various company initiatives.
  • Develop the team’s skills, ensuring the individuals work cohesively to cover all demands, collectively provide subject matter expertise for all areas, deliver high quality results demonstrating excellent understanding of the business and the data and continuously push for improvements.  Guide development of core competencies so that the team balances technical expertise with people skills, allowing them to easily work directly with users and executives.   Continually hire people of high caliber able to understand the business.
  • Work closely with the deployment teams to understand their business challenges and objectives, identifying areas of opportunity and developing holistic solutions for the department.
  • Support Deployment, Executives, and other departments by supporting ad-hoc requests and needs, providing relevant and actionable deployment related information in the most effective format and medium. 
  • Clearly explain tools and results to teams and management.  Develop and conduct clear, concise presentations, communicating technical methods and impacts in business terms.
  • Own production tools or processes and serve as department and company Subject Matter Expert for those tools.
  • Works closely with corporate strategy, brand and corporate deployment teams, energy management, port operations, and ESG teams to accurately predict fuel, carbon emissions, and new carbon tax developments.  Develop tools to assist teams minimize carbon emissions, fuel expenses, and quantify carbon tax implication on itinerary decisions.

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required (in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Statistics or related field). Master’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or Statistics preferred.
  • 10+ years of work experience in related field preferred.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical skills and knowledge of applied statistics.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement applications using a programming language, especially PL/SQL, SAS, or Python.
  • Experience in supporting and interpreting reporting using Business Intelligence tools (PowerBI experience a plus).
  • Experience in forecasting, optimization, or data modeling.
  • Ability to handle dynamic workload, balancing short- and long-term projects.
  • Ability to interpret analytical results into meaningful business terms and translate business needs to programming and data modeling.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to business and technical audiences in both spoken and written formats.
  • Must possess strong reality check reflex and problem-solving skills.
