The Royal Caribbean Group has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager of Deployment Operations reporting to the Director of Corporate Deployment, PMO & Operations.
This position works on-site in Miami, Florida
Position Summary:
The Corporate Deployment & Itinerary team is part of the Finance organization of the Royal Caribbean Group. The Corporate Deployment team works in close collaboration with each brand’s Deployment team along with a very wide range of external and internal partners and stakeholders to ensure the optimization and detailed execution of our deployment and itineraries which support the strategic planning of each brand. Our itineraries are critical to our overall success as they are a core driver for market demand and overall guest satisfaction.
The Deployment Operations team is a critical part of the overall Corporate Deployment team. The Operations team is responsible for implementing, bringing to market, securing berth reservations, loading all new itineraries into the reservation system, and managing open deployment and itineraries. This includes our longer-term new deployment as well as responding to close-in changes, geo-political events and sit reps. The breadth of responsibilities is unmatched in the industry in volume of itineraries, ports and berthing to manage and secure supporting multiple brands.
The Deployment Operations Manager will report to the Director of Corporate Deployment, PMO and Operations. This role will also work very closely with all other members of the Corporate Deployment team. This role currently overseas a team of four Operations Analysts, responsible for the following main tasks fully in support of Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises and as needed by other brands. There will be exposure to senior management with the opportunity to work closely with branded Deployment teams, Revenue Management, Guest Communications, Charter Sales Teams, Corporate Tax, Revenue Planning and Analysis and other departments within the Company.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage direct reports to facilitate confirmed berth requests, new/redeployment reviews and loading/opening, itinerary modifications, and charter requests.
- Ensure cross-functional coordination and training on the operations team to optimize work balance and coverage.
- Work closely with key departments throughout the organization to facilitate each new season’s deployment loading and opening timeline, balancing cross-functional processes’ lead times and other considerations.
- Familiarize with IMS berthing tool and present opportunities for process improvement concerning berthing conflicts, port congestion & detailed itinerary planning.
- Partner with the Deployment Strategy team to track & communicate port responses and ensure products are confirmed before going out for sale.
- Also align with Destination Development on timing of berth submissions per relevant usage agreements.
- Identify areas of opportunity across current processes and develop recommendations to facilitate continuous improvement of current processes and tools utilized by team to execute deployment loading and cross-functional interactions with other stakeholders.
- Oversee itinerary proposals with deployment analysts and Charter Sales.
- Work with deployment strategy team to coordinate itinerary changes and seek approval of new itineraries from various internal departments.
- Primary point of contact within team regarding AS400
- Familiarize with new reservation system project and how Itinerary Planning is affected.
- Deployment Reviews: Sending for review any new or modified itineraries to a committee for their approval or feedback, plus liaising with Guest Communications to align on implementation timing and communications.
- Loading: Assigning all necessary codes to implement and coordinate the loading of new itineraries and sailings, as well as any necessary redeployed itineraries/products.
- Berthing: Confirmation and maintenance of all berth assignments as needed for new deployment and modifications through our port berthing tool, IMS, and directly with ports and our agents.
- Charters: Coordinating with both brands’ Charter Sales teams on quoting and maintaining charter requests from initial charter proposal to implementation into our reservations system.
- Situational Management: Facilitate close-in changes and/or redeployment of itineraries due weather, geo-political events and otherwise.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) or (B.A.) from a four-year college or university is preferred.
- Shipping/cruise industry/port knowledge and experience communicating with international business contacts is desired but not required.
- Pro-active, reliable, and very detail-oriented individual with very strong and professional communication and people skills.
- AS400 knowledge & experience required.
- Full Microsoft Office Suite experience needed.
- Understanding of cruise line operations is preferred.
- Must be detail oriented, proactive, and solution-oriented, demonstrating an aptitude for problem solving across multiple stakeholders in a time-sensitive manner.
- Ability to operate within a cross-functional environment.
- Willingness to accept immediate project responsibility or priority shifts.
- Ability to effectively use oral and written communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and use proper judgment.
