Manager, Capital Planning Strategy and Operations

The Royal Caribbean Group’s Finance Team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Manager, Capital Planning Strategy and Operations reporting to the Sr. Director, Strategic Planning.

 

This position will work on-site in Miami, Florida

 

Position Summary:

 

The Capital Planning department controls and guides decision making for all capital expenditures. Aligned with the Company’s strategic planning process, the department provides a long-range plan for the capital asset portfolio as well as provides the tools necessary for business leaders to make investment decisions. This position within the team will oversee the operational, strategic, and continuous improvement side of the Capital Planning process. This includes overseeing a team of 1-2 and leading capital diligence process for the organization, which includes business case review and summarization, executive packaging and reporting, project recommendations, account creation, and Audit compliance. In addition to capital operations, a person in this role will oversee the strategic and continuous improvement arm of the team, including leadership through the Strategic Planning (5-year) and Operation Planning (1-year) process, the development of new tools, dashboards, and processes for the team, including project performance reporting. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Manages the company’s capital request process. 

 

  • Oversees the summarization and packaging of business cases for leadership & executive consumption and decision making. 

 

  • Works across the organization to refine business cases and provide feedback.

 

  • Stewards projects through the capital approval process, ending in the funding process for investments. 

 

  • Oversees Audit compliance for the Capital Planning team.

  • Partners closely with the Strategic Planning and Brand leadership teams to develop and implement the 5-year and next-year Capital Plan for the organization.

  • Provides strategic support for the capital allocation decisions of the organization, including development of an investment prioritization scorecard and allocation decision tree.

  • Improves the capital allocation process, including development of new tools and processes to streamline the operation and provide greater transparency.

  • Implements and refines new tools, dashboards, and reports to be utilized across the organization. 

​​​​​​​

  • Develops and owns the project performance tracking framework, including the tracking and reporting of capital project KPIs.

  • Develops new ways to contextualize and prioritize capital decisions.

 

  • Designs and implements key milestone tracking and reporting for Capital projects in collaboration with project managers.

  • Manages performance, coaches and develops a team of analysts and senior analysts under this position. 

​​​​​​​

  • Perform ad hoc analysis as required based upon current company financial goals. 

 

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or similar.

​​​​​​​

  • 7-10 years of work experience required in Finance and/or Strategy.

​​​​​​​

  • Advanced use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word applications.   

​​​​​​​

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

 

  • Must have ability to work well under pressure, write executive level reports, administer meetings and problem solve with groups. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • MBA, CPA, or CFA distinction preferred.

 

  • Accounting knowledge preferred.

  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase, Hyperion Brio, JD Edwards World, Oracle Database preferred.
