Manager, Aquatics Program

Position Summary:

The position is responsible for overseeing and managing the Royal Caribbean International shipboard lifeguard program as well as aquatic program management and initiatives.  This includes interaction with individual ships as well as with corporate management and executives.  This position serves as the primary liaison with the corporate lifeguard external partner, as well as internal business partners.  This position works within Marine Operations to ensure the water safety program is effective and operating optimally.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the Royal Caribbean International lifeguard program is maintained and operated according to the highest standards set forth in the Lifeguard Operations Manual and the external audit program, at all times.
  • Manage Senior Traveling Lifeguard Manager and traveling team and set direction and schedule for shipboard visits.
  • Ensure that RCL management update meetings occur in Miami on a quarterly basis with Marine Operations leadership.
  • Liase with Aquatics programs at company Private Destinations. Develop, implement and oversee the safety and training policies and procedures in SQM that regulate all aquatics operations in the company (shipboard and shoreside ¿ Private Destinations).
  • Update and manage the Shipboard Lifeguard Operations Policy in SQM. 
  • Oversee annual shipboard lifeguard program audits and rectification of non-conformities in a timely manner.
  • Ensure audit results are provided for BSC after audit completion.
  • Evaluate and analyze lifeguard intervention data and Rescue Reports.    
  • Provide oversight for onboard lifeguard trainings and promotion plans.
  • Oversee recruitment and training for shipboard lifeguard program and coordinate with Private Destinations for their recruitment of aquatic staffing.
  • Oversee and ensure all slide inspections are completed shipboard and non-conformities are rectified.
  • Communicate with and update shipboard Executive Committees regarding the lifeguard program and manning.
  • Communicate updates to shipboard and shoreside management regarding the financial and operational health of the lifeguard program. 
  • Liaise with appropriate shoreside departments for aquatics program related items including Product Development, Newbuild, Risk Management, and Hotel Operations. 

 

FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position is responsible for the financial management of the lifeguard program and marine aspects of aquatics safety initiatives including capital projects. 

 

Qualifications, Knowledge & Skills:

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Aquatics and lifeguarding management recommended, but not required Bachelors degree or equivalent

 

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:  

  • Skilled in working issues with a high degree of professionalism, judgment, creativity and initiative.
  • Results driven, self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced team environment and to multi-task.
  • Strong computer and presentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and keen attention to accuracy.

  • A higher noise level is possible if visiting shipboard, offsite or warehouse locations.
