Royal Caribbean Group’s Procurement team has an exciting career opportunity for a full time Lead, Fuel Derivatives &Cmplnc reporting to the Partner Business Sr. HR.

 

This role will work onsite in Miami, Florida.

 

Position Summary

 

The Lead Global Fuel Procurement is responsible for the analysis, processes and procedures in fulfilling the goals and objectives of the Fuel Purchasing function primarily related to fuel operations and bunker planning as well as regulatory compliance monitoring. This position must have ability to confer with ships, suppliers, ports, government authorities to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, delivery schedule, maritime safety/security requirements. Responsible for the short and long-term planning and strategizing of petroleum products for their specified regions. Due to the criticality of certain information, a timely communication will have a profound influence on RCG strategy, deployment, financial and accounting operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Monitor and execute daily operations of 100+ deliveries per week yielding $1Billion + in direct spend to ensure bunker strategy assigned to each vessel is optimized by utilizing competitive supplier contracts. Provides recommendations and analysis of proposed cost savings solutions for customer and management selection.   
  • Responsible for executing the Lube oil and chemical delivery operations for RCI, CEL and TUI which results in over 35 million liters of annual consumption, $50 million in direct fuel expense. 
  • Manage the Lube Oil and Chemical sourcing strategy for 100% of global ports and regions. Lead fuel sourcing strategy for >30% of global bunker ports & regions including U.S. FL & Caribbean 100%. 
  • Oversee operations of both conventional and low-carbon (biofuels, LNG, etc) fuel types. 
  • Leads continuous oversight of the order process, communications with suppliers and the vessels to ensure 99.9% delivery and specification accuracy given the extraordinary importance of timely fuel supply for our ability to deliver the best cruise experience to the guests. 
  • Initiates the delivery process for 4,000-5,000 orders per year by submitting nominations basis recommendations on price, availability, transportation and delivery schedule. The Lead will have the authority to bind the company to a contract or deal
  • Planning & coordinating the yearly and long term, Fuel program with all external/internal stakeholders, including cost avoidance saving targets aimed to generate multi-million-dollar annual savings >$60 million. 
  • Assist the Lube oil and chemical delivery operations for RCI, CEL and TUI which results in over 35 million liters of annual consumption, $50 million in direct fuel expense.
  • Support Fuel Hedging modeling, monthly savings analytics and monitoring of KPI’s to ensure Fuel Team’s objective and goals are met. 
  • Liaises with shipboard and/or Shoreside personnel, suppliers and logistics to ensure proper ordering and timely delivery of good and services to operational vessels or projects without interruption.
  • Tactical bunker procurement contributor for all RCG brands (+50 ships worldwide: RCI, CEL, SSC, TUI) requiring email and phone monitoring with some after-hours coverage.
  • Assist with recording and tracking compliant supplier and vessel KPIs that will maintain or ensure operational excellence. Responsible for researching and resolving issues including delivery failures, delivery discrepancies and invoices in disputes.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and internal customers.
  • Follow up with suppliers and shipboard officers regarding invoices so that unbilled purchase orders are properly processed following specific vendor contract terms and conditions. 
  • Monitors supplier performance to ensure consistent service, high quality and low costs of goods/services, and addresses deviations with management. 
  • Work with VPS lab to interpret bunker analysis as an assurance that ISO 8217 and SOLAS quality parameters are met or make a recommendation on further steps based on quality deviations (debunkering, quality claim, regulatory exception), and file detailed claims with supplier as needed.
  • Progressively develop bunker industry knowledge to allow RCG to procure in various locations while assessing risk/reward of each bunker opportunity.
  • May travel to visit ships, suppliers or project site for loadings, audits, etc.
  • Responsible for meeting with customers regularly to provide status updates on open orders.

  • Duties assigned by their supervisor or management.


FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
•    Assist with operations management of a billion dollar+ commodities spend. Responsible for providing business users with analytical insight in order to properly manage and forecast the annual fuel expense.
•    Provide Bunker expense reporting and any variance analysis explanation to Accounting, GMO, Finance & Corporate Planning.
•    $25,000 expenditure limit per order


Qualifications: 

  •  Associate degree or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  •  4-6 yrs. of procurement, fuel or energy experience.
    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  •  Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.  
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, credits, proportions and percentages.  
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  •  JDE, Tungsten, and deployment schedule experience is preferred.
