The Royal Caribbean Group’s Celebrity Cruises Brand has an exciting career opportunity for a full-time Lead, Capital, Business Analysis reporting to the Director, Finance & Business Analysis.
This position works on-site in Miami, Florida.
Position Summary:
This person is responsible for working with the Director of Finance & Business Analysis, on the capital planning and monitoring process for the brand, as well as the financial and strategic analyses. This person will understand the results of the business and strategic direction in order to develop insights and make recommendations that will drive improvement across the brand. The position may also support the P&L of our Galapagos (Ecuador) program.
This position requires outstanding analytical skills (including financial analysis and business acumen). Effective communication to Brand Financial and Operational leadership, and their respective operational groups, is critical to the success of this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages FP&A of $20M+ annual capital plan. Measures and reports on other capital investments that impact the brand’s performance (e.g., Global Marine Operations, Energy Management, and Technology).
- With respect to $1B+ Net Cruise Cost budget, responsibility includes reporting on variances to forecast and providing ad hoc support to supervisor in FP&A.
- Leads the capital planning and monitoring process.
- Collaborates with key stakeholders inside the brand and on the corporate staff to develop a capital plan that optimizes returns on invested capital.
- Develops long-range capital plans and prioritizes projects based on strategic direction.
- Identifies return-generating projects and works with operations teams to understand and quantify financial and/or operational benefit to the business.
- Supports the operations teams in the development of each project’s business case and overall capital request.
- Tracks capital spend by project and explains variances to forecast.
- As needed, supports the Ecuador financial management & controllership.
- Responsible for financial planning and analysis (FP&A) of Celebrity Vacations and Ecuador Operations, providing support to both the operational leadership in Ecuador and the financial and business leaders at CEL HQ ensuring the business meets commitments on planned Expenses, Capital Investment and G&A spend.
- Works closely with RCL Corporate teams to execute the Ecuador operation Tax, Compliance, Risk and Accounting requirements as set by the functional areas of the corporate staff.
- Interfaces effectively with all levels within the organization in a manner that is collaborative and respectful in an effort to provide valuable insights.
- A key responsibility is to develop cross-departmental relationships across several functions (e.g., Corporate Planning, Capital Planning, Accounting, Operations, and Finance) in order to maintain consistent collaboration and timely communication.
Capital Planning & Business Analysis:
- Capital Planning and Analysis: Leads the financial planning process, including annual capital plan, monthly/quarterly forecasting, and long-term (strat plan) capital planning.
- Analyzes capital performance / spend and provides insights and recommendations to support business decision-making.
- Conducts routine internal capital audits to identify areas of improvement and efficiency across the Brand’s capital portfolio (Including business case and invoice reconciliation audits).
- Prepares and presents financial reports to senior management and stakeholders, including Brand President and SVP of Hotel Operations.
- Capital Management: Manages and monitors departmental capital budgets to ensure alignment with organizational and Brand goals.
- Identifies cost-saving opportunities and implements strategies to optimize capital performance.
- Ensures accurate allocation and tracking of expenses, including areas that impact our P&L such as write-offs, recurring expenses, loss of hire, & D&A.
- Strategic Capital Partnerships: Partners with departmental leaders to develop and justify capital plans.
- Drives continuous improvement in capital processes and reporting, via ongoing reviews and feedback with operational leaders.
- Owning the Capital Dashboard and Materials: Develops and publishes an enhanced Celebrity Capital Dashboard to provide clear visibility into capital projects to ours senior leadership and Brand President.
- Conducts regular analysis of capital projects to ensure they are managed efficiently, within budget, and meet their strategic objectives while adhering to high standards of quality and compliance.
- Defines and develops capital process materials, documenting details relating to annual, quarterly, and monthly deliverables and workflows to ensure consistency.
- Team Leadership: Leads and mentors the Brand Finance FRP, fostering a culture of collaboration and excellence.
- Ensures the professional development and growth of the FRP to ensure they have a full understanding of the capital process/deliverables during their rotation.
Galapoagos / Equador - as needed:
- Oversees monthly accounting activities, including analysis of results vs. plan and forecast.
- Develops the analysis and communication for Celebrity Vacations & Ecuador operating expenses and G&A for annual and monthly forecasts that support organizational goals and objectives.
- Works with the Hotel, Marine, and Revenue Accounting Operations teams to produce accurate forecasts, analyze actual performance and determine a plan of action for variances.
- Ensures that financial results are correct, and compliant with GAAP and overall corporate policies and procedures, including Sarbanes Oxley.
- Proactively identifies and analyzes areas of potential improvement.
- Makes recommendations to executives on analyses that will create efficiencies, reduce costs, or improve profitability.
- Drives initiatives to enhance company performance, functioning as an internal consultant and facilitator.
- Leads team that provides package financial analysis, G&A analysis and costing & pricing models for all Celebrity Vacations business including the Celebrity Galapagos packaging operation.
- Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- B.A in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Three to five years related to financial or business analysis. Cruise or Hospitality experience preferred.
- Expert level user of financial modeling tools, including Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient user of data analytics and interactive data visualization tools, such as Microsoft Power BI.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and multitask.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Must be detail oriented to ensure completeness and accuracy in analysis and presentations along with strong operational focus.
- Candidate must possess strong written and oral communication skills and be able to work effectively with all levels of operational personnel.
